williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Sep 2, 2009 Looks like a cloudy amber orange. Half finger of bubbly head. Looks like and IPA with more cloudiness. Looks thick & substantial.
Strong piney hop flavor. Heavy alcohol scent backed by a dry ale-malt smell. Citrusy to balance heavy alcohol. Good stuff.
Major blast of citrus (orange) and apricot flavor, with a strong alcohol flavor that is offset by the dry, bready malt. Strong but balanced, not overdone. A real strong ale, no extreme beer fetish.
Feels milky and thick. Smooth like a hefeweizen. Buttery and leaves a watery film. Strong but really drinkable. Nuanced and flavorful, especially considering that it’s so strong. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA Sep 1, 2009 Pours a golden orange with a white head. Strong wheat nose, some bread and a lightly roasted/toasty note hidden in there. Taste is clean malts, and a mellow bitterness. The taste is long. A really good lager. Nekronos (2243), Xalapa, Mexico Aug 31, 2009 Extremely good, maybe they will have some troubles with the copyrights of the logo but the beer is defenitely good. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2009 Mt Vesuvius was bottled up as thing gushed out all over the counter and my beer list. Mildly hazed amber with a rapidly descending off-white topper. Aroma of heavy toffee, toasted malt, fruity yeast and some citrus hops. Taste of toffee, caramel, light citrus, alcohol and a touch of bubblegum. Moderate bitterness and sweetness on the finish. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2009 Had this beer on tap at Mad mex Robinson under other name Meierbock. Really great especially the buttery ketone flavors. Plenty of malt and hops, fragrant, clean finish JulienHuxley (165), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada Aug 24, 2009 I love this beer. The grainy, malty, floral honey nose, the dark amber pour, the thin off white head, the strong but unusually well balanced sugar and bitterness, the honey, pollen, grass taste. I dislike the carbonation a little bit but it remains a remarkable session ale. Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2009 =the key word for this beer is umoffensive, if unexceptional.
s=nice mix of the key ingredients.
T=very good and sneaky, malts slightly overpower hops for a fun ride.
M=smooth, surpisingly so. Not much in the way of carbonation, which is how I enjoy it.
For me, this fits the definition of my quintessential session beer. Roli (319), laval, Quebec, Canada Aug 23, 2009 Bottle. Dark orange color. Agrumes and other pale fruits are dominant in the taste. Fizzy and hoppy, the yeast is also very present. Even with all this, I’ve found that beer to be kinda bland.
