COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Quite possibly my favorite Ale! This has been one of my favorites since back in my college days (Florida State Univ grad. 2001). The pour from the bottle is a beautiful copper color with a cloudy/white head. The aroma is of hops, spice and has a medium body and the aftertaste finished strong. Just the right bitterness - every time I want a quality Ale Dead Guy is what I pick up.

Definitely a great brew from this brewery. I've only tried this one and the Yellow Snow IPA, but this one is better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Aroma has orange and bready malts. Flavor has sweet orange, caramel and bready malts Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Aftertaste is fruity, too sweet for my taste lowering the rating a bit but a nice session ale nevertheless.

Dimpled mug. Sweet smell, hints of malts and barley. Pours a cloudy copper, quick dissipating head. Thick heavy mouth feel, finishes sweet. A really sweet tasting beer and not necessarily in a good way. Just average.

Really disappointing due to the rankings and fanfare. Unspectacular and standard save for increased sharpness and caramel & citrus moments.

Pours a cloudy golden brown with enormous head and good lacing. Aroma is tons of caramel malt and a little bit of piney hops. Aroma is complex and changing - very nice. Taste is similar, with rich malts and full flavor, with the right amount of fruity hops to cut in at the end. Palate is full bodied, smooth, and rich. Overall very well done. Might be an old bottle - label was peeling and it poured cloudy. Would love to re-rate to confirm this one.

Clear amber gold colour, slight off-white head. Aroma of hops, malt and honey. Quite herbal. Sweet malty flavour, bitter hops, rather fruity. Bitter finish, hops, light honey.
Feels a bit old, no best before date though.

Very smooth smell, malty with hints of cereal and toast. Pours vibrant clear orange with a thick white head. Good flavor, layered with a long finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

Thought this would be better from Rogue, but I guess every beer can’t be perfect. Drinking from a bottle, but has a bitter aftertaste that is not pleasing.
