COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogueís proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Nice medium bodied, copper in color, nice hop balance against the the malty goodness. This is one of my favorite everyday ales, Iíd drink it more if it were priced lower.

355ml bottle. Small white head leaving. Hazy red apple lemonade color. Aroma is rose hips, raspberries, raisins, prunes, syrup. Taste is light bitter of berries.

Old rating. Iíve had many 6-packs of this over the years. An absolute American craft beer classic. One of my gateway beers that changed my palate. Nice yeast and malt aroma. Great malt-forward taste. As it warms up cinnamon and cardamom become slightly noticeable. Sweet on the palate and nose. A bit of bitterness on the way out that lingers.

Second beer on the BJs dinner pairing. This is a classic. Great malt backbone. Moderate hops.

Pours a frosted amber, good carbonation and no head. Rich malt aroma with decent hops balance. Complex and spicy taste with very good balance. Light bitter hops aftertaste with caramel follow-through. Slightly sticky mouthfeel.

The aroma is similar to barley wine, but the taste of soft, slightly sweet, enough beverages. Well fine of course, but 2 times would not take this.

Bela breja! Cor laranja acobreada, meio turva. No aroma, predomina o malte, com um sutil toque herbal. O sabor acompanha o que indicou o olfato, com uma bela dose de malte, seco, com corpo medio e final curto e um pouco amargo. Drinkability excelente

Been almost 20 years since I had this. Was a very bold beer for the time. Very sweet malty nose almost reminiscent of a candy apple. Body is both flat and fizz. Hazy deep holden brown amber. Not bad.

12 oz undated bottle served in a pint glass. A little sediment at bottom of bottle ... added mid-tasting (recommended). Clear, then cloudy (see above) light amber color; 1+ finger of cream head after a light pour has good retention. Aroma is mainly citrus hops and some floral and apricot elements. [from notes]

I didnít know what to expect, because I had bought the bottle blindly :) But I surely didnít expect a Heller Bock. Itís my first Heller Bock actually and I quite liked it. Nice, sweet aroma and taste of the malts, some caramel, vigs, honey. Sweet, but very pleasant.

Pours a reddish copper colour. Head and lacing are not notable. Aromas are a lovely mix of cherries, coconut, and malts. The palate totally follows suit. The malts are quite sweet. A sweet vanilla biscuit lingers on the tongue after the swallow. This is good beer.
