COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Beautiful dark amber color. Ordinary aroma, with a hint of hop. The caramel dominates this beer, with some hidden quite good hopping.

Golden amber with rapidly disappearing white head. Not much aroma, just slight malt. Malty, yeasty flavor with background bitterness, good example of the maibock style.

Bottle. It poured a clear golden, topped by an off-white head. Hops, beef-stock, malt and caramel on the nose. Quite hoppy flavor with malt and beef-stock. Medium to full body, and a balanced finish with pronounced hoppiness and maltyness. A nice beer, not the typical bock, but nice. (070413)

650ml bottle from Morrisons. Dark orange clear beer with lasting beige head. Intense US hop nose with hints of chocolate limes. When I say hints I mean completely unsubtle flavours. Really nice in mouth, got good strong mouthfeel with malts and alcohol coming through. Then smooth choc lime finish with drying intense hoppiness. Superb with good lasting flavours

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2007 Dark orange amber with little white head. Malty aroma of caramel - easy sweet.. Flowery hoppy taste & easy spice. Medium filling body. Overall very pleasant, but not the best Rogue there is! Re-rating july 1st-07. Better than 1st tasting. From 3,4 to 3,7

Bottle (12oz - $8.99) - First newbie tasting club - Lars brought it. Unclear red/brown - white head. Bread, thin, high bitterness, berries, that’s about it !!

Bottle. Nice, clear dark golden colour. Almost no head. Bonbon aroma. OK maltiness to flavour and medium bitterness.

Bottled. Nut brown color, small off-white head. Bready malty nose. Malty, slightly citric hoppy, balanced but mild mouthfeel. Some acidity in the aftertaste. Quite boring. Interestring to have an ale which is a bock. Far from maibock.

A nicely complex ale. Poured a reddish gold with a foamy head, which faded in minutes. Smelled of sweet malts. The taste was dynamic, ringing with traces of honey, molasses, and bread. Very smooth with a mildly yeasty afteraste. I enjoyed drinking this beer very much.
