Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Not a ton of aroma but what is there i think comes from yeast and malt, that is ok given the style. surprised it uses the subtle perle and saaz hops which i think is what gives this beer a great smoothness to the hop profile. I have had this beer a few times before and always assumed it was a higher gravity ale. overall i liked it and is a good beer with a balanced malt and hop profile.

Pours amber with medium, quickly diminishing head. Aroma is malt at first, some sweet citrusy notes can be sensed. Taste is very full. First thought is very carbonated, but it is not. It is a hard rocking body of the beer that gives you this sensation. It is slightly sour with a bitter finish, that is not too strong. A nice ale.

Bottle. Sweet, thickish, full bodied in a caramelly and bready way, quite a lot of fruity esters, some spicy hop notes. Dryish, light astringent alcoholic finish that balances the main part. Good.

On tap in Stamford, CT. Amber color - malty nose. Taste is malt bomb with some alcohol up front and a touch of bitterness on finish. Not really for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
