COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Great beer, reminds me of an amber. The yeast shines. very well balanced easy drinking, but little in the way of aroma, didn’t pour as well as it could have, hence lacked head and retention of it. Overall a good beer I would definitely re-visit.

Bottle. Deep orange colour. Medium white head. Flavour of caramel, honey and more malt aroma that i can't define. No hops. Flavour of caramel malt, some dried fruits. Surprising medium bitter finish. Medium body high carbo. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark golden appearance, with almost no head. Fresh aromas of citrus and honey. Complex taste of honey, dark caramel and vanilla with a very pleasing aftertaste

Bottle. Caramel to brown in colour, low carbonation, slightly opaque. Aroma is, well, malty with some timid hops. Taste is rich and round, slightly bitter aftertaste. Good mouthfeel. Perfect (or close) beer in the sun!

Pours golden from 12 oz with medium persistent tan head. Malty honey aroma. Complex malt flavor with honey, hints of tangerine/citrus fruit, and decidedly bitter end. Medium bodied with ample carbonation to support malt. Fantastic beer, complex and drinkable though wouldn’t really call it a maibock.

Bottle at the Free Press, Cambridge. Amber/copper, clear with a bit of cream/beige head. Odd aroma: forest berries, bubblegum, pine resin. A whiff of plastic. Not unpleasant, actually quite enticing, but as I say, odd. Taste is a full on malty bittersweet hit. Finish is more bitter, fades slowly, and creates the perfect denouement for this exciting drink. Loved it.

This is a bit hoppy for my liking. I like the hop with certain beers, like an IPA or something, but didnt work for me with this one. Not quite an extra bitter, but pretty close. A good overall beer, and was able to drink it no problem. I just prefer some of the other types that Rogue makes.
