Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

1 pt. 6 oz bottle. This one’s right in line with my taste. Color is a clear rich amber. Not, terribly thick head but the head is at the same time fizzy and fluffy while it lasts. Nose is of clean fresh malts. Taste is dominated by hops. But it’s a really good bitter-sweet hop flavor. Notes of carmel and honey in the flavor as well. Finish is dry and hoppy, with slightly bready under-notes. The hoppy flavor and finish is more like an American IPA than a heller bock.

What can you say about the dead guy? This is an outstanding beer with a wonderful array of malt flavors and aromas complimented with a gentle hoppiness. The munich and caramel malts lend a rich biscuit and caramel flavor that represents the german Bock style very well, a definite go to.

By far my favorite beer to date, I love the hoppy taste in the end. Never had on tap, only in a 12 oz. bottle. Tempted to make a long trip to try the draft..

Bottle. This one had been on my list for awhile and it did not disappoint. Pours dark reddish (similar to the label), with a crisp white head. The aroma is citrusy and malty, but with a hint of something darker and heavier. Flavor is outstanding with a powerful finish. Really great brew.

Floral hoppy and malty aroma. Starts with very nice and strong hop flavour then maltiness appears which ballanced by hop bitterness. Full body and right not too high carbonation. Long and bitter aftertaste. Excellent brew.
