Commercial Description:
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue's proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Very nice beer, lingering malt flavor with a strong hop flavor to balance the malt. Reddish Amber in color, good Belgian lace. Drink a few of these in a moderate amount of time and you will either be dancing on top of the bar or sleeping under it.

Had this bottled in St. Charles, Illinois. Very hoppy, refreshingly bitter. Sweeter than most ales.

Mahogany brown color with a slight haze. Deep dark roasted flavor with a honeylike apricot flavor. Tremendous palate and taste with a beatifully soft delicate smooth finish. Excellent palate with a slight hint of alcohol. Powerful taste and string hoppy feel smacks your tastebuds. This is a a winner of all catagories.

This beer has a sweet malty aroma. Starts out with a honey sweetness and finishes with a pretty good hoppy kick. Not a typical maibock by any means. I enjoyed the 22 oz. bomber.

Pours a clear copper with a nice sized tan head that lasts fairly well, and laces quite nicely. Aroma is lightly malty (fruity, plums?), and strongly hoppy (floral, pine, grapefruit). Flavor starts with some dark fruitiness, and ends with a very strongly hopped finish, good bitterness. Medium-full bodied, light notes of alcohol poke through towards the end.

Really really nice. I had no expectations, as I had no idea what this beer was, and it's just plain really good. One of the best mystery beers I've gotten in a long time. Malty and heavy, with a bit of a hoppy undercurrent. Very nice. Full bodied beer, wonderful to drink.

Wow. There is a log going on in this glass. A very nice dark amber color, with an off white head. There’s a taste of orange, or some other citrus fruit to this beer. Has a good bitterness that seems to stay with you, but isn’t overpowering. Complex taste and aroma. This seems like a good cross between a Bock and an Ale.
