COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Aroma is malty and a bit sweet. This is definitely a beer whose aroma does not betray it’s flavor. strong flavor of caramelized malt, slight taste of grapefruit. Bitterness is chorus to this concert of flavor. Wide spread distribution helps propagate the popularity of this beer. Maybe a slightly overratted

Pours a nice honey-amber colored ale with a decent head. Smells of sweet fruity esters with a hint of malt. Mouth feel is good, not too light. Tastes of sweet malt with a little bit of tang on the back end. Overall a great maibock, would drink again.

Nice medium bodied, copper in color, nice hop balance against the the malty goodness. This is one of my favorite everyday ales, I’d drink it more if it were priced lower.

Reddish-amber color, no head. Rich, sweet, tangy, and malty. Lively carbonation. Toasty, nutty, and brown sugar notes.

Quite possibly my favorite Ale! This has been one of my favorites since back in my college days (Florida State Univ grad. 2001). The pour from the bottle is a beautiful copper color with a cloudy/white head. The aroma is of hops, spice and has a medium body and the aftertaste finished strong. Just the right bitterness - every time I want a quality Ale Dead Guy is what I pick up.

Caramely malty aroma. Pours an orange color with a pale amber head. Tastes caramely with a slight bitter finish.

12oz bottle, pours a dark amber with frothy off white head. A touch of hops in the aroma, very malty a bit sweet, overall a fantastic mass produced beer.

Fairly stern and well stewed signature hop scent. Bottle was perhaps overchilled but murky ear wax brown throughout, insignificant head - again perhaps due to the fact the bottle looked like it was in the fridge for weeks. Speaking of weaks (lol) a sticky zest on initial taste doesnt add much more to the undercurrent of lingering fizz. An earthly, honest malt stamp to finish but nothing special. I recall being more impressed with this on first tasting years ago. (Bottle, Blackfriars, Glasgow)
