Strait out of the bottle into a pilsner glass this brew has an amazing cloudy orange color with a slightly red tint. A good amount of head that is not quick to dissipate. Upon first sniff i get a sweet hoppy smell. When I dig a a bit deeper a muted fruit scent is detected. It has a very balanced taste: Clean wheat with a delightfully mild bitterness which seems to complement the flavor nicely. The mouthfeel is very smooth all the way through. I hate to use the same descriptor twice but it finishes absolutely cleanly begging you to drink more. All in all this is a highly drinkable beer. I could easily enjoy a few of these on an average night with some good food and great company.

Jul 23, 2008 bottle: This pale bock was very good. I’m big on malts and this delivered the goods. I was wary of a beer 6.6% because often the alcohol content overwhelms the palate. I think i might have found a new style of beer to enjoy. Rogue puts out quality stuff.

Jul 22, 2008 Can’t believe the ratings that this beer is getting. This beer was served at my favorite watering hole for a short time, and it was one of the worst beers I’ve ever had. It only lasted a month due to poor feedback. Maybe I’m missing something here.

Jul 20, 2008 An old favorite of mine, had so many times I’ve long since lost count. Funny but I’ve always thought of this as a hoppy red rather than as a maibock. Not that the styles are totally unrelated, but whatever Dead Guy is, it’s a very floral, generously hopped beer that has a full and sweet malt presence, making this one of Rogue’s more balanced and enjoyable offerings.

Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Hazy amber with a small diminishing head. Aroma is sweet malt and yeast. Flavor is malty yeast with some tangy citrus. Pretty decent, but nothing spectacular about this beer. Not really what I expected as far as a "Maibock"

I tried this beer on July 1, 2008 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent dark golden red with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma was sweet malt, and some floral hoppiness. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. The flavour is a little sweet with a definite hoppy taste, not grapefruit strong, but still hoppy.
