Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Pours a clear amber orange with medium off-white head. Aroma very strong of sweet malt, grass, and slight floral hops. Flavor similar with the addition of spices and honey. Mouthfeel is a bit slick with a dry finish. Aftertaste is just ok. Altogether a nice drink and very refreshing.

From the pour I got a good thick and creamy off white head. This sits on top of a beautiful medium orange amber body with a light haze. As I drink the head slowly fades to a wispy covering and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is full of bready sweetness, bready yeast and mellow hops. The flavor has good toasted and bready maltiness with some mild caramel, toffee and light nutty notes. This is backed up with nice herbal/floral hop balance. It finishes well balanced and extremely drinkable. The palate has a smooth full feel with soft carbonation.

2nd beer from Rogue. Seems like a top brewery. Pine, honey in the aroma. Sweet perhaps mandarin. Wouldn’t have been wrong with more carbonation. Plenty of hops.

On tap at Union Jacks Columbia MD. Slightly cloudy yellow (perhaps a hint of copper color), small white head. Aroma is biscuit malty and light fruit but not a strong aroma. Flavor is some caramel malt with slightly fruity notes. Some grassy hops in the dry finish. Not exciting, but a solid craft beer.

I know I’ve had this one multiple times and never rated it. Pours cloudy copper color with off white head. Aroma is caramel malt with fruitiness. Flavor is caramel malt with some biscuity flavors followed by some fruity notes. Some orange flavors in finish. Finishes smooth. This is a really balanced malty brew.

Orange colour, aroma is very malty... honey, apricot. Sweet malty taste with a sticky texture, mid-low bitterness. Quite rich aroma and flavor, too sweet and malty for me though.
