3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 KajII (710) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - AUG 15, 2009UPDATED: DEC 14, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a mildly cloudy copper/amber with an orange hue and a small (less than 1 finger) off white frothy head that had decent retention and good lacing.
The aroma was of toasted caramel malts, citrus hops and a biscuit yeast with strong citrus, toffee and caramel notes.
The taste was sweetly bitter with a hint of caramel in the beginning then progressed into much bitterer flavor with a nice dose of citrus at the end, I am guessing a little lemon and grapefruit. The flavor stuck around long enough to let one enjoy the nice citrusy hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel had a smooth creamy texture and a medium body with a prickly carbonation.
Overall a super refreshing ale that had a nice blending of malts, hops and citrus. And one that is most definitely worth drinking again.

Im such a huge fan of the pacman yeast and use it from wyeast at my local brew shop. This is a great example of a maibock from the westcoast. Tangy and prompt.

Love the pour, love the mouthfeel, & the taste is well balanced but just not quite flavorful enough. Still a very solid drinkable beer & far less hoppy than I imagine. Pretty good for a warm summer night. Decent!

Small bottle at Hop & Vine on Burnaby Mountain, served in a St Bernardus snifter. Surprising it’s taken me this long to get around to this Westcoast classic. Lots of fruit and malts here, less so with the hops, which are well in the background. Sweet, malty finish. Nice!

Pours a darkish amber color with an off white head. The aroma was of light floral hops and sweet grains. The flavor was sweet grains with a little bitterness. Goes down smooth with a light bitter aftertaste. Overall a good beer.
