Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Light citrus and bread aromas. Dark brown body. A semi-bitter flavor with flavors of bread and grass with a bitter finish. Flavors are muted and not particularly notable.

Smooth honey aroma. Enjoyed from a bottle, so I couldn't judge the appearance. Smooth going down. Good mouthiness. Finishes caramel and malty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear copper with a decent head and large bubbles streaming up the side of the glass. Aroma is a bit like a season. Taste is a beery hop. Not bad but definitely different. Medium mouth feel

Pours a light copper from the bottle. Sweet honey yeastiness is underwhelming. Thin mouthfeel, quick effervescence that flattens to nothing. Okay beer.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 03.25.14. A: Somewhat opaque, milky caramel color. 1 finger head that receded quickly. Great lacing. S: Strong, sweet caramel. T: Caramel dominates. Has lingering red apple. Some flower on the back end. M: Creamy smooth. It floats on the tongue and fades away slowly. Beautiful. O: The creaminess is apparent first, then a wash of caramel takes over. The sweetness fades and then a slight bitterness comes on until fading into a red apple and flower back end that lingers. This is a very well balanced and fantastically smooth beer. Unfortunately, I won’t ever buy anything from Rogue again after what I’ve heard about them, but that shouldn’t affect my rating of this beer.

Tåkete lys brun med beige fingerhøyt skum. Lukter maltekstrakt og noe sviske. Søt smak med lett bitterhet i avslutningen. Kort søt ettersmak.

14 jan 2015, tap. Light orange/Amber, clear, no bubbles. Nose is orange citrus and granola malt. Ned body and mildly fizzy. Really reminds me of unpasteurized apple cider. It doesn't taste bad or off but it tastes appley. There is some orange citrus finish an moderate granola malt throughout. Decent.

Bottle at home (glow in the dark!?). Nicely almost clear, copper colour, big foamy white head. Strong malty tones, sweet honey, bready and grainy too; clearly reminiscent of German (alcohol free) ales. Little fruity with orange and mandarins, light pilsener-like bitterness, Belgian yeasty. Medium carbonation and body. More like an imperial pils.

0,355 l bottle, best before 8/2015. Clear, bronze yellow with a thick, creamy, stable, white head. Massive lacings on the glass. Sweetish, fruity aroma of honey, gooseberry, lemon and tangerine. Very appetising. Sweetish taste of honey, lemon and tangerine. Finish is crisp and medium bitter. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite good and highly quaffable. Would love to drink that on a warmer day!

Bottle from Seoul Plaza. Full malty aroma, toasted, toffee, biscuity. Almost clear orange-amber colour. Poor head. Taste is once again rich and malty, seems even stronger than the ABV suggests. Toasted, caramelly malt sweetness and only light noble grassy complementary hoppiness. Rather sweet, but not too much so. Really nice, pleasant drink. Finishes with a hoppy flavour.
