3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2012 This has been one of my favorite ales over the past few years, although I am not as big a fan now as I was about two or three years ago. Although considered a Maibock, it is somewhat darker and maltier than most Maibocks. It pours a slightly cloudy amber with a white head that dissapates quickly. Strong aroma of sweet malt. Very well balanced, flavorful and easy to drink. Dead Guy is a fine all-around ale that I enjoy throughout the year. I would also like to note that I experienced amazing customer service from the staff at Rogue Ales.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a half finger of head on a clear dark straw colored body.
The aroma is bright orange and tangerine with a little caramel.
The taste is a hardy malt caramel with a slightly sweet pine finish.
The texture is fizzy, a bit too much.
An enjoyable beer.
Earlier Rating: 8/7/2013 Total Score: 3.9
Poured two fingers of head on a mostly clear, medium straw colored body.
The aroma is quite "grainy." Like sticking your nose into a grain silo. There’s a little lemon in the background though.
The taste is wonderful, great balance. It has a big dose of bitterness upfront, then a big malt bill comes through. Finishes clean.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle LCBO: Orange glow with nice tight beige head. Malt, toffee, and biscuits in the nose. Tastes malty and yeasty with some mild hop content. Soapy mouthfeel and highly quaffable despite the higher alcohol content. Balanced bittersweet finish. Very good then.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Light haze with a copper body. Creamy light tan head.
Aroma: Malty like a doppelbock. Caramel and brown sugar, very malty and complex. Hard to really pinpoint the flavors.
Taste: Malty through and through. Caramel to brown sugar throughout.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: I don’t see the fuss about this. It’s not bad and I see why it’s a gateway beer, but there are so much more, like Troegenator.

Draft. Pours a deep amber. Sweet aroma of malts and toffee. Taste is sweet with some mild hops. Prefer other Rogues but this is pretty good.

Amber, clear, tall but quickly fading head, little lace.
Yeasty, earthy nose.
Medium body, clean mouthfeel, simple and moderate flavor profile.
Balanced bitter-sweet character.
Malty, earthy, yeasty, hint of hop, pp in the finish.
Good, within the style, which is not mine.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep gold pour, thin off white head. Not much on the nose except caramel/malt. Taste - sweet, malty, a little bitterness but mostly just caramel goodness, goes down very easy

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£3.50):
Hoppy at first with some caramel and toffee notes coming through along with some burst of citrus and faint pine. There is a malt base that is a semi-sweet one and I could detect bread and sweet fruits and yeast too.
Copper amber colour with a half-centimetre tall, foamy head that is a very slightly off-white colour and settles as a thick lacing on the top that covers the entire surface.
Pine hops and some citrus kick things off along with some caramel malts and a floral taste that is a little hoppy and hints at some bitterness. There is some sweetness and bread with a few fruits as well, notably some apple.
Medium bodied, a fairly good balance and medium carbonation as well, this beer is smooth with a dry and bitter tang from the citrus and some sweetness throughout along with a crisp finish.
An interesting one, almost seems like an American pale ale & definitely an unusual take on the Maibock style with the beer growing on you as you work your way down the glass. A good beer but I imagine this will be a one off for me and I won’t be trying to pick it up again.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle poured into shaker. Hazy honey color with a modest foamy cream head that reduces to a slick in a few moments. Carbonation is slight but persistent leaving minimal lacing. Slight aroma of caramel malt with some light floral notes. Flavor is malt forward with honey sweetness giving way to a spicy middle and some welcome bitterness in the finish.

A really tasty malty brew. Goes down smooth. Deceptively strong. Lots of malt and a beautiful amber pour. Could session this all day.
