4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lilja (998) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUN 17, 2013
På fat. Smak och doft av mycket choklad, nougat, karamell, humle. Syrlig och krämig med en aningen sträv bitterchokladbeska. Har inte druckit något liknande förut, riktigt gott.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Idiosynkrasie (1985) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2013
750ml bottle. Pitch black colour with huge, creamy, fully lasting, minimally lacing, brown head. Intense, moderately sweet chocolate aroma, hints of nougat, treacle, liquorice, a grainy touch. Taste is complex chocolately, moderately sweet, minimally dry and tart, milk chocolate, bitter chocolate, cocoa, a touch of nougat, liquorice, salt, integrated herbal hoppy overtones. A complex mixture of flattering and arduous flavours.
4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ciaranc (388) - Dublin, IRELAND - JUN 3, 2013
Deep black/brown, mocha head which doesnt last. Lush, sweet Belgian milk chocolate nose, hints of smokeyness and a touch of coffee. Flavour is milk chocolate, with a hint of hop bitterness to offset the sweetness. Its oily and slick in the mouth, carbonation is flat, theres a touch of heat from the alcohol there too. Finish is more rich chocolate. Oh my this is good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BeerBaboon (1219) - FINLAND - MAY 25, 2013
Pours black with brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and loads of milk chocolate. Tastes of milk chocolate and roasted malt with sweetness and medium bitterness. Very good, but dark chocolate and less sweetness would make it better.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bigaddie (66) - - MAY 22, 2013
If there's ever a beer that does justice to its name, it's Rogue's double chocolate stout. The aroma is of milky chocolate goodness. You know that taste you get when you let milk chocolate melt in your mouth. This has the odor of that taste. Very sweet aroma. The pour is average with a disappearing head almost like a black ale. Doesn't have a thick feel.
The taste is quite good. Richly balanced with a creamy, delicately palate. Quite effervescent on the taste which reduces the sweetness in a good way. Has a bit of a loss in depth of the palate and dies down quite quickly.
Thin mouth feel and I wish it had a richer and thicker and more intense taste and palate. It's still really good.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2013 Holy macaroni. I have found that long list sensation from when I first discovered better beer. This gets full marks. However there is no such thing as perfection. Creamy. Bitter. Sour. Tiny bit of sweetness. Full body. Jesus.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 VoodooBear (32) - San Juan, PUERTO RICO - MAY 20, 2013
Presentation: 750mL bottle with a red coating. Served in a pint glass.
Appearance: Two finger dark tan head that fizzles out rather quickly. It’s pretty much black in color and it leaves some good lacing.
Smell: A sweet chocolate smell dominates, with some hints of roasted malt in the background.
Taste: Tastes of dark and milk chocolate, with some smokiness from the roasted malt. It’s very sweet. There’s some bitterness at the end but it’s not really that noticeable.
Mouthfeel: There’s very little carbonation. It’s creamy, smooth, full bodied and rather strong. After drinking about half a glass it starts getting cloying because of the sweetness.
Overall: It’s a sweet treat, best to have it in small doses. You’ll enjoy it a lot more if you pair it with any chocolate dessert, because by itself it’ll just feel like too much sweetness after a while.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 harrisoni (11025) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2013
Big bottle from The Bottle Shop in Canterbury, been chillin’ in my fridge for a few months until I found a good reason to drink it. Normally I don’t need a reason to drink a beer, but I do like Rogue a lot and it’s now the eve of my holiday to Belgium and Germany, so now is as good a time as ever. Black beer with lasting tan head. Even as I opened it I could smell the chocolate and in fact 2 feet away from the glass I can smell the chocolate. Dark choc aroma, like really intense dark choc sponge. I mean the aroma is gorgeous so much more intense choc than other choc stouts. Yep more choc sponge in mouth, like a chocolate wafer, as Ken said, yes in fact like an intense choc wafer biscuit. Good choc stout. Alcohol doesn’t come through at all. Just a touch of newspaper later on in the swallow. Pretty good though, but not quite, outstanding.
