On tap at Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a dark black color with a brown hue that had a small tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of chocolate, caramel and mild espresso. Tastes of mostly chocolate with a hint of Carmel and coffee. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with great carbonation. Great beer. One of the best chocolate stouts on the market in my opinion. It was a nice birthday lunch desert.

For full disclosure, I had just rated several crappy ales. But still, this is delicious. I was sure, based on the aroma, that this was a cherry chocolate Stout, it smelled like chocolate covered cherries. I wish it had more lacing, with the creaminess that comes with it. Still a very good beer.

Complex aroma of black cherry, chocolate and malt. A good looking beer dark brown with a thick creamy head. Taste of dark chocolate and malt. The only negative is the palate of metals.

Poured from a room temperature bottle. Dark brown color, nice medium tan frothy head. Black cherry and malt aroma. Thick body with a creamy and smooth texture roasted malt character with a slightly mild burnt mineral finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap from Lazy Dog. Pours dark opaque brown with a thin layer of dark toffee head. Aroma of sweet chocolate with a bit of a hint of alcohol. Taste of definite upfront chocolate with a hint of coffee.

Pours black as black can get with a dark brown head. Aroma is licorice, raisins and chocolate. Others have stated bittersweet chocolate. But the bitterness comes from the cascade hops used. Taste is more chocolate coffee than anything else. I’d guess a chocolate coffee Stout than double chocolate. This makes sense since it’s a Rogue beer. Taste is remarkably simple. It needs aging. This is why I bought more than one. Palate is abrasive. Slight velvet at first before the bitterness consumes the moisture from your mouth. Overall a good beer. Lacks complexity but by far Rogue’s best beer.
