3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2012 Poured from bottle at home. Thick and dark. Chocolaty and coffee tasting but not overpoweringly so. Reminds me of eating a few dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Tried drinking at room temp and refrigerated... Best at room temp...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark black. Thin tan head. Coffee and chocolate. Somewhat milky but not much. Some spices I can’t place. Excellent balance. Not quite double in chocolate though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle from Triangle Wine. Good aroma, sweet. Chocolate, little hazelnut. Dark brown color, small head, though I poured rather slow. sweet flavor. medium body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, sweet bitter finish. Pretty good, nice chocolate brew. all chocolate, not anything else, all chocolate in aroma, flavor. Kind of lighter in mouthfeel than I was thinking it would be.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep aromas of raisins, molasses, cocoa and some toffee. Blackish brown in color with no foam at all. Complex flavoring with tons of chocolate and fudge overtones. Other notes of raisins, expresso, mocha and burnt molasses. Overall, this is a well done, chocolate filled stout. Surprisingly light bodied. I’d give this an A rating.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy dark tan head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was sweet cocoa, vanilla, marshmallow and chocolate syrup. The flavor was sweet and tangy vanilla, marshmallow, cream and strong cocoa. Very long sweet cocoa, marshmallow and vanilla finish. Thick, full and creamy body. The alcohol was very well hidden. Excellent.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Got lucky to try this bottle at Big Beers and Barley Wines. I had no idea this was in such limited release. Holy cow, this is like drinking melted chocolate spiked with a little vanilla. Awesome. Super dark and rich.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2013 Pours very thick and black. Smells like chocolate fudge. Tastes like chocolate milk. Very heavy mouthfeel and slightly syrupy and sweet. Perfect for dessert. This is well done. On the sweet syrupy side so be ready.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle poured a deep black cola with a large mocha head and excellent lacing. Huge aroma of semisweet chocolate and cocoa flows from the bottle upon opening and is followed by hints of vanilla and chocolate milk. Taste begins with roasted malt before bakers chocolate take over and leads to the bitter finish. Big creamy mouthfeel, slight smokiness and palatable bitterness linger after each sip. One of the best aromas to date and generally impressive.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ML bottle into my Founders snifter.
A: Pours a very deep brown and a little creamier with an equally dark brown head. 1.5 finger head rises up, then settles down to .5 finger head and rests there for a while. No real lace besides some splotches here and there.
S: Very sweet chocolates are in the forefront. Almost like chocolate milk. It has that creamy smoothness that reminds of the river from Willy Wonka. There’s caramel and toffee in there as well.
T: Even more pronounced than the nose. The chocolate is a little less sweet and takes on a coffee like quality. There are light malts there but there is nice bitter/piney hop character on the backend that supplies a platform to bounce the sweetness from the chocolate off of.
M: It is a little heavy on the carbonation, at least to me, but it is still very creamy and smooth. A little prickly on the tongue with a semi sweet bakers chocolate left on the palate.
O: Obviously a very chocolate forward stout, but the taste gets balanced very nicely and has a little complexity to it which I appreciate from a beer that seems to be one flavor dominate from the outside.
