Man oh man. Feel like I’ll have diabetes by the end of this bomber. What a huge beer. Nose is massive dark chocolate. In the mouth big chocolate and espresso beans. Mouthfeel is very thick. Pour pitch black with light head. This is for me like lobster and a few other guilty pleasures, something I’d have once a year. That’s not taking anything way from it, fabulous beer.

Draft. Black pour with creamy tan head. Chocolate, molasses, touch of herbal and earthy tones. Abv is hidden well, chocolate and dark cocoa dominated, but that’s what was expected.

People really love these chocolate stouts by rogue and I dont know why I keep trying them. They taste like cocoa powder and not much else too me. I drink it and I get sweet cocoa powder. I smell it and I get hot cocoa. I dont know, its not bad but I dont see the appeal.

Alright. Don’t get me wrong I love me a bottle of nesquik but not as a beer. Overwhelming chocolate takes over even the beer in this beer. Damn it.

Draft at Novare Res. Nice order, Laura. Pours a deep, opaque brown with a noticeable lighter chocolate brown on the edges and top, under a thin, creamy tan head. Big chocolate aroma, rich and sugary, with roasted malts, molasses, and earth in the background. The flavor brought more complexity to the chocolate- milk, bittersweet, baker’s- and placed it on top of roasted malts and bitter earth. Medium-full bodied, with mellow carbonation and a smooth, rich, sweet mouthfeel. Hit the spot with our Belgian waffle dessert.

750 ml lovely red-painted bottle purchased a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($12.49). Pours a very dark brown with two full fingers of rich creamy dark mocha foam. Aroma of dark fudgy chocolate, Hershey’s cocoa powder (for making chocolate milk), creamy vanilla, and some smooth roasty notes. Flavor is full of very dark and smooth bittersweet chocolate with lesser notes of vanilla, espresso, and hints of dark stone fruit. This is remarkably smooth for a big beer, and the alcohol is well concealed. Though this is VERY chocolatey (almost to an extreme), it is important to note that it is not in the least cloying...much more like the very high cacao content chocolate bars that I bought in Ecuador last year that featured regional cacao. It’s nice that this impy stout really concentrates on chocolate, and the result is a big success. (120, 592)

One of the best chocolate beers, and takes us a long way forward from Shakespeare chocolate stout. Tremdous treat to the nose of dessert chocolate fondue. Above average mouthfeel, though carbonation right there. American chocolate with its sweetness, and more bittersweet European chocolate. Fairly complex, I found this well balanced between bitter and sweet. Dark brown body.My swingtop bottle from Premier Gourmet.

Pours dark brown/black color with brown head. Big milk chocolate aroma. Sweet milk chocolate flavor with some roastiness. Full body with minimal carbonation. Went great with chocolate cake.

9/1/10 on tap at papago. dark. almost black with a soft medium brown head. holy hot chocolate aroma!.... roast, cream, coffee and wood too but the cocoa really dominates this. it tastes like a mocha cappuccino without the sweetness... choco, coffee and cream with a slightly sour finish. it is very one dimensional... and delicious! it is medium bodied.... maybe a bit thin for and ’imperial’ but that aids the drinkability (in small doses). 8/4/8/4/16

Nice find :-). Poured dark with a crazy perfect head. Smelled of chocolate, coffee, alcohol and some light raisins tickling the senses. The flavor assaults the tastebuds. Robust notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and creamy roasted malts are almost too much. Washing away with a nice malt backbone and spicy notes (alcohol, likely) this beer is even better than I expected. Wow.
