I was really hesitant to rate this as highly as I did, but I couldn’t help it. Aroma is heavily chocolate influenced with malt and beer undertones. Pours very dark and thick with a moderate head. VERY easy on the palate, to the point that you’re only one step removed from drinking chocolate milk, it’s so smooth. Sweetness of the chocolate combines well with the chocolate from the malts. Damn...

chocolate, coffee, dough, black, cloudy, frothy, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, I really enjoyed this draft.
4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 unclemattie (3705) - Georgia, USA - DEC 29, 2010
750ml bright red painted bottle. Black pour, thick, lacey, brown head. Heavy aroma of chocolate syrup. There may be some grain aromas, but I’m not finding any. Heavy bodied, thick and creamy. Tastes of heavy hearty chocolate, rich chocolate malt, some earthy hops. Tons of chocolate. Just when I thought that Rogue Chocolate Stout couldn’t get any better... There is an "Imperial-ized" version of it. The only thing that has this beer getting any better would be a nitro pour, OMG.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Bamaboy1975 (78) - Suffolk, Virginia, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Appearance is a deep dark brown with a thin layer of head that still left some nice lacing behind. Chocolate and a little roast were present in the nose. Chocolate was very upfront in the flavor and the roasted bitterness took over on the finish. However, there was a lingering chocolatey sweetness throughout. Excellent effort and a true chocolate beer experience!

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2010 Bottle: I’m honestly having trouble finding anything wrong with this beer. This is the epitomy of chocolate stouts. Smells like a dutch chocolate factory. Sweet milk chocolate. It pours dark, black, with dark beige head. Think lacing head. Thick body. The beer is smooth with a heavy sweet milk chocolate flavour. It leaves a strong aftertaste of the sweetness behind. And definitely leaves you wanting more. If you are a lover of stouts and chocolate, this is the beer for you. Perfect.

From the bottle poured a very dark brew with a very dark head.Aromas of malt, lots of chocolate, roasty malt, and hops. Flavors are double of the aromas. I loved this brew.

This is my favorite Imperial Stout so far. Balanced aroma, with notes of chocolate, coffee, roasy. Herbaceus hops. Full, smooth body. It is a must!

From the red-painted bottle. Sexy pour of deep dark chocolate brown with a creamy head. The aroma is tantalizing to say the least; full of dark chocolate allure. The flavor is darn close to hot chocolate, with a little hint of an alcoholic kick and subtle bitterness. With a nice creamy, milky mouthfeel, this is damn near the perfect after-dinner beverage. Outstanding! (#4066, 1/30/2011)

Rogue Double Chocolate Stout is a thick black liquid with a fluffy, foamy brown head and some rainbow bubbles. The head stays put and coats the glass nicely. It has a sweet chocolate aroma. It smells like a fondu pot. It has a smooth, soft, full body with a clean, dry finish. Wow! It has a super chocolate flavor! It’s slightly sweet and slightly bitter and it all seems to come from the chocolate. There’s a possible hint of licorice and coffee. I’m a big fan of their regular Chocolate Stout and this is just more of a good thing.
