Pours pitch black with long lasting brown head. Aroma is chocolate cake. Pure, unadulterated chocolate cake. Taste is Portillo’s chocolate cake, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, and a hint of coffee and hop bitterness to balance. Body is full, creamy, low carbonation, chocolatey slightly roasty finish. Overall, this is the best chocolate beer I’ve ever had. Seriously tastes like a chocolate cake in a glass. If you like chocolate, buy this without hesitation.

This is by far the best chocolate stout I have ever tasted. Draft, poured into an American pint glass. Appearance: Opaque black with one finger of thick chocolate milk colored head. Aroma: A roasty cocoa and coffee scent. Taste: A strong semi-sweet chocolate flavor, with roasted coffee undertones. The after taste is exactly like that of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Palate: Thick and milky, leaves the mouth coated with a pleasant semi-sweet chocolate flavor. This is the tastiest beer I have had in a long time. I will definitely be buying some whenever I see it again.

On tap @ Man in the Moon, Stockholm. What an aroma, bitter chocolate taste and just a little little sweetness in the end. Perfect balance, awesome beer!

Amazing. Best stout I’ve ever drank. Roasty, malty, hints of hops, and perfect chocolaty aftertaste. Rogue has done it’s again...

Wow. This was an impressive brew. Dark, thick and chocolaty! Chocolate roasty smell with a creamy chocolate cherry taste.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy dark tan head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was sweet cocoa, vanilla, marshmallow and chocolate syrup. The flavor was sweet and tangy vanilla, marshmallow, cream and strong cocoa. Very long sweet cocoa, marshmallow and vanilla finish. Thick, full and creamy body. The alcohol was very well hidden. Excellent.

Bottle. WOW. This beer is AWESOME. Nose is pudding, chocolate powder, coffee bean, and chocolate powder. Flavor is chocolate pudding, chocolate powder, and more chocolate. Thick on the tongue. I could dive into superlatives but this beer doesn’t need that; it’s chocolate, and that’s all you need to know. Delicious.

Wow, a chocolate beer that tastes like chocolate? Sadly, most don’t. Rogue has really outdone themselves with their double chocolate stout. It captures the chocolate liquor flavor and bittersweet chocolate aroma amazingly well. Appearance is inviting with a chocolate color and dark tan head. Palate is very full and smooth with a thin, wet finish. Taste is mildly sweet, lots of chocolate liquor and a moderately bitter hops finish. Overall, this is one amazing beer. I would prefer a tad sweeter, as I like to drink it alone for dessert. Still, one of the best beers I’ve had considering that it delivers what others beers have promised but fallen short of before (ommegang chocolate indulgence, i’m looking at you).

Holy macaroni. I have found that long list sensation from when I first discovered better beer. This gets full marks. However there is no such thing as perfection. Creamy. Bitter. Sour. Tiny bit of sweetness. Full body. Jesus.
