Aroma of chocolate pudding! The taste is all about different chocolate flavours. Low carbonation. A little sweet. Dessert beer!

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2014 In my introduction to beer days, I drank a lot of this. Such good stuff. They always have awesome bottles. Smells of chocolate. Tastes of double chocolate. A bit thin, but pleasant. A classic.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled, can’t remember where i got it from. Black appearance, medium brown head. Beautiful nose of milk chocolate and roated malts. In flavor coffee kicks in, combined with roasted malts and chocolate, pretty sweet, but with some bitterness to compensate. Lasting bittersweet finish. Remarkably sweet for an imperial stout, but it works out really well. Great brew.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, medium sample. Dark brown color, medium creamy light brown head. Aroma of big chocolate, milk chocolate, mocha, some coffee, roasted malts. Taste has quite some sweetness, but also plenty of bitterness from coffee and dark malts to balance it out. On the edge of being too chocolatey sweet, but as I like chocolatey beers it was just perfect. Good stuff.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster. Looks good; a fairly opaque dark brownish black with creamy beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; lots of chocolate. Tastes like it smells, but less robust. Average on the palate. Solid, but smells better than it tastes.

750 mL bottle shared at a tasting on February 17. The pour is very dark. I don’t know that I would call it black, but it’s perhaps a light black. There is a medium dark khaki head that lingers and lingers, insinuating that there is a nice creaminess here. The aroma is solid. Chocolate is very prominent, and there is some maltiness to go along with a little roast. I would say it almost smells like a good chocolate milk. The flavor is quite similar to the aroma. There is solid chocolate and maybe a light caramel tone, but it’s well balanced. The mouth feel is beautifully creamy and thick. The aftertaste is nicely bitter, long lasting, and creamy. This is a solid brew.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a dark black color with a brown hue that had a small tan head that leaves decent lacing. Smells of chocolate, caramel and mild espresso. Tastes of mostly chocolate with a hint of Carmel and coffee. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with great carbonation. Great beer. One of the best chocolate stouts on the market in my opinion. It was a nice birthday lunch desert.
