3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 harrisoni (10909) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2013
Big bottle from The Bottle Shop in Canterbury, been chillin’ in my fridge for a few months until I found a good reason to drink it. Normally I don’t need a reason to drink a beer, but I do like Rogue a lot and it’s now the eve of my holiday to Belgium and Germany, so now is as good a time as ever. Black beer with lasting tan head. Even as I opened it I could smell the chocolate and in fact 2 feet away from the glass I can smell the chocolate. Dark choc aroma, like really intense dark choc sponge. I mean the aroma is gorgeous so much more intense choc than other choc stouts. Yep more choc sponge in mouth, like a chocolate wafer, as Ken said, yes in fact like an intense choc wafer biscuit. Good choc stout. Alcohol doesn’t come through at all. Just a touch of newspaper later on in the swallow. Pretty good though, but not quite, outstanding.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Bamaboy1975 (77) - Suffolk, Virginia, USA - MAY 13, 2013
Appearance is a deep dark brown with a thin layer of head that still left some nice lacing behind. Chocolate and a little roast were present in the nose. Chocolate was very upfront in the flavor and the roasted bitterness took over on the finish. However, there was a lingering chocolatey sweetness throughout. Excellent effort and a true chocolate beer experience!

Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton, FL. Snifter. Pours a jet black with a caramel brown thin head. Aroma is wonderful with milk chocolate, roasted malts and nuts. Taste is close to the same with the chocolate and cocoa really on the front end. Bitter on the back end like a light version of a coffee stout. Creamy mouth, well balanced. EXCELLENT!

The aroma carries a bitter note, and pours with a shoddy head. The flavor is excellent but just a little thin on the tongue in texture. A very pleasant beer overall.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 tia (756) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle. Very dark with thick rich mocha head and generous lacing. Smells like chocolate milk over rice crispies. Nice bitter chocolate flavor with ample roastiness. Dry finish, pretty clean for what it is. Tasty.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 deaconmike (56) - Roswell, USA - MAY 4, 2013
On tap a Taco Mac. Beautiiful jet black pour with a thin tan head; significant lacing all the way down the glass. As expected, the aroma yields chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is excellent - the chocolate and roast in the aroma come through along with malted milk and some coffee beans. Nice bitter finish. Mouthfeel is creamy, but not too heavy. Very nice beer from Rogue.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ICEatALAMO (529) - Troy, Michigan, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Bottle. The pour is slow and black, thick, with a rich mocha head. The aroma is more malt than anything, some bitter chocolate. The taste is full bodied. The chocolate hits you fast and stays throughout. Nice balance between the chocolate and the malt flavor of a classic stout. Very nice flavor, especially if you like your chocolate.

1 year bottle pours dense black with fizzy tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate and a caramel nuttiness with a roasted grainy coffee tone, almost like a coffee snickers bar. The flavor is rich roasted grains, some oats in the mix with a hearty chocolate flavor. There is a balancing bittering semi sweet chocolate earthy backbone giving some overall dryness. Lower carbonation makes drinking it beyond easy, especially when cooler. Pleasant finish with roasted coffee chocolatiness and a small touch of berry fruits. Rally solid brew.
