Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Bottle, thanks C & K! Love the bottle itself. Looks good - deep orange, nice creamy white head. Good aroma - spicy, sweet, and even floral. Taste is decent - very sweet, a little spicy, some alcohol. Some hops in the finish too. Comes off as a bit too syrupy sweet, but drank cold this is negated somewhat. Good, but does not make me want another one. Thanks for the east coast pick up though C & K!

Bottle. Pours an amber orange body with an off white head. Lots of hop character with pine and grass y notes, some moderate malt balance with hints of caramel and toffee. Not bad a step up from the regular but i like boozy brews.

Pours clear reddish copper w/ white head. Aroma - sweet caramel malt but not very strong. Taste - Very bitter up front, doesn’t hide alcohol very well, sweet caramel malt, pine. Overall - I’m not very impressed. Guess I was expecting something more and with better balance. The overly strong alcohol presence throws off this beers taste.

22oz bottle pours smells and taste like a good fine Belgian style beer. Slight taste of caramel with a perfect balance. Finises better then even the start.

750 ml bottle. Pours a ruby amber in color with a huge frothy head. Use of a snifter is recommended here to fully enjoy the floral aroma. The flavor is full of notes of caramel, citrus, and spice. This beer has a well rounded body, and a lasting tart finish. Really good.

Not a lot of aroma. Looks pretty good. This is much better than the regular dead guy ale because of the up-front hop bite. The flavor is pretty nice, some lightness and airiness to it from the middle to end. Good but overpriced.

One of the best bottles I have ever seen. Wish the contents were up to the challenge, though. Pours an orangish/reddish copper with a big and fizzy tan head. Aromas are sweet caramel with a touch of pine and grass and a hint of oranges. Flavor is very sweet and malty... has a lot of caramel, a touch of orange and grassy hops and an overwhelming alcohol presence that creates warmth and buries some of the flavors. a little pricey

Ceramic bottle pours medium copper color with a fluffy head. Sweet malts, sugars and caramel in the nose. Nice bitterness to body match up. Grassy and herbal hops bitterness and finish. Not usually a Rogue fan but this one went well.
