chuwy (21), Japan Mar 25, 2009 Barrel aged for one year, on tap at Ushi Tora in Tokyo. Not bad but a bit too syrupy for my liking. Just a bit too bitter sweet. Seemed to taste notes of whisky? Perhaps from the aging process or was it aged in a whisky cask? didn’t care for that flavor. Not my favourite Rogue. Prefer the normal dead guy ale. It got better as I drank it but still wasn’t that easy to get through. Had it just after a Diamnd Knot IPA, so maybe that wasn’t fair. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Mar 23, 2009 Bottle; go read Dead Guy and add a bit more bitterness; I agree with Rustyham, go drink Dead Guy instead. (#63) Rustyham (552), miami, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2009 Not that I would drink this a lot, but goddamn! I finished it three beers ago and still taste, strongest palate of any I have tasted. Not worth the price tho, I would feel better drinking two regular dead guys in quick succession. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 22, 2009 (650ml bottle) Purchased at The Strath for a small fortune. Pours frothy white dissipating head atop a clear copper body. Nose of sour cherries, bourbon, brown sugar, apples. Very powerful alcoholic malt front - rather distracting actually. Pine hops with a floral finish. 7/3/5/2/12 SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 16, 2009 i think i was looking forward to this, not really, but i was wrong, this is a fantastic brew .. nice head .. pretty tasty maple and skull flavours .. well balanced .. easy to drink .. so much better than the original ... jhumphries69 (718), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Mar 14, 2009 750ml red painted bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber with moderate off-white head. Aroma is a pleasant balance of hops and tangy malts. The flavor starts with a lot of pungent and tasty malts - notes of toffee and caramel. Towards mid-palate, soft American hop flavors emerge with slowly balancing bitterness. Finish is nicely balanced with just the right dose of bitterness and hoppiness to reign in the malts. Very smooth and drinkable for this strength. Mouthfeel is medium-full in body and slippery with moderate carbonation. Overall, a very tasty brew. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 11, 2009 2008 version at 9% - Sweet and citrusy in the nose with lime, grapefruit and icing sugar dominant. Lightly hazy deep copper coloured body is topped by a decent off white, large bubbled head that recedes slowly and leaves some lacing. Pleasant round malt sweetness features toffee and just a hint of butterscotch that is offset by pronounced bitterness that is somewhat grassy in character. Citrus is notable throughout and lingers in the aftertaste. Medium-full body with moderate to strong carbonation that prickles the tongue and cheeks and really perks up the taste buds. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at the Brewery Creek in Jan-09. BillWyce (90), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 11, 2009 Poured orangey-amber with a big off-white head. Noted a citrusy aroma (grapefruit?) from the hops. Light and smooth palate. Not as hoppy as expected, but moderately so, with a mild afterbite. Malt sweetness becomes more evident as it warms.
