Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Draught at Rogue Ales Public House, SF Deep amber with a white head. Very malty and fruity aroma with some hoppiness. Soft, smooth and oily palate. More like a barley-wine.

Draft @ UJ’s: Poured a copper color with not much head. The aroma was alcohol, caramel, dried fruit, and flowers. The flavor was smooth, some grapefruit, apricots, sugar, and a mild touch of hops. Overall, a very drinkable smooth beer.

Pricey, but worth it. Tastes exactly how it is described- like Dead Guy, but double the hops. If you like hops and can drop 15-20 bucks on a beer, then this is what you’re drinking.

Bottled at SBWF08. Pours out in a dark hazy amber colour with a small tan foam. Rich aroma of caramel, cookies and swaet grapefruit. Full-bodied with notes of caramel, mildly toasted malts, soap, grapefruit and lychee. Long bitter finish of grapefruit and grass, with chewy caramely undertones.

On tap at McMinamen’s in Mt. Airy, PA. Great copper color with little to no light getting through. Smell was very strong and stinky (in a good way!) I didn’t realize it was 9.5% abv while I was drinking. The alcohol flavor was very well concealed within the malt and hops. Speaking of which, I though the balance was very good; both sweet and citrus-hoppy. I thought this was a very good beer overall and would definitely drink again.
