Theis (3617), Denmark Jan 12, 2009 Bottle at home - New Years Tasting. Clear dark amber (mahogany) - white head. Sweetness, high sweetness, syrup, roasted, ryebread, brunkager, mould, rotten caramel, medium hoppy, bitterness, high malty. Unbalanced. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jan 11, 2009 What a freakin’ cool bottle! This massive beer poured copper and large-headed. The aroma is tangy, metallic. Despite the bigness of the beer, this is a smooth drinker, silky even, with a hint of bitter apple, but otherwise a very even-keeled malty brew. (#3468, 11/2008)
ruggedman (613), Portland, Maine, USA Jan 10, 2009 On tap at Novare Res. I’m not a huge fan of the regular dead guy...it’s kind of ketchup like. This stuff however is MUCH better. The D2 is a malt masterpiece. Toffee, caramel, and everything I expected the dead guy to be. tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 7, 2009 kinda amber goldish color, some white foam. nose is sweet malts, some good hops. flavor is nicely balanced like the nose. sweet caremel malts and nice bitter hops, a little smoke. had with Dead guy, intresting reincarnation. RollinHard (750), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours reddish-tan amber color with a moderate beige head. Looks pretty plain. Aroma is fairly simple to be honest: some caramel, toasty-pine hops, earth...Tastes equally predictable, but pleasing nonetheless with flavors of caramel, toast, wood, dirt, and a somewhat supressed earthy hop flavor. Finishes mildly bitter and earthy. Medium bodied, not as creamy texturally as Rogue’s other offerings. It seems like this beer should be special but it’s just another Arrogant Bastard wannabe really. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Jan 7, 2009 Fancy bottle with the Club. Pours a clear light brown. Smells of caramel and alcohol. Sweet with aromas of cream soda, rye and tiny hints of metals. Some residual sugars. Too sweet. Slipstream (735), USA Jan 6, 2009 Served cold from a tap, and called a doppelbock at this pub. Fairly dry, hoppy bock. Seems a bit light for a strong, double beer, and I am actually rating it lower than regular dead guy. n.b. The name Dead Guy Ale is not very appetizing. I would like to try the cool looking bottle too. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 6, 2009 lots of sweet malt and citrus hops in the aroma. taste is fruit malt the hint of alcohol. hops are prevalent, found some strawberry and citrus in the taste also.
