Moderate to heavy malt aromas of nutty, caramel and milk chocolate, moderate herbs for the hops, light earth for the yeast with notes of date, brown sugar and nutmeg. Head is creamy, slightly off-white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is sparkling clear copper with a thin stream of fine bubbles. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is lightly acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is medium, oily and has a soft carbonation. The flavor opens with roasted malt, caramel, a metally, rusty flavor, and a hop balance at the end that lasts nicely. The finish does last and last. This stuff however is MUCH better. The D2 is a malt masterpiece. Toffee, caramel, and everything I expected the dead guy to be.
