codewritinfool (3), Chesterfield, Missouri, USA does not count Jan 4, 2009 Updated: Feb 5, 2009Bottle, 750ml. Pours a reddish copper. Aroma is sweet and of alcohol. Head is thin. Big mouthfeel, lots of sweet malt, hints of caramel, strawberry, apple. Bittering is not as strong as I anticipated, nicely balanced up front and becoming very noticeable at the tail. No notable lacing. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jan 3, 2009 750 ml bottle. Lots of malty sweet and citrus notes in the nose. Flavors were hoppy on the finish with a nice sweet entry. Pretty good stuff. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 3, 2009 Served on tap at the Draught House in Austin. pours a dark amber with clarity and a light beige head Smell is clean malt and a bit of booze. Light nose overall, and a bit of yeast too. Taste is fruity, malty and some lager like yeastiness to it with a light bit of alcohol and soft bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation. A bit boozy, but not too much. Not too good, really. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Jan 2, 2009 Clear honey coloured body with a fairly well lasting light tan head. Hops at first on the nose followed by sweet caramel. Bitterness just outshades the malt in the taste, dont seem to notice the alcohol too much or am I just drinking a few too many higher alcohol beers (and enjoying them). thewolf (5597), Kolding, Denmark Jan 1, 2009 Bottle, bought atVinens Verden, Odense. My 4,300th rating. Happy New Year!! Pours deep, clear orange with a big, creamy, yellowish head. Great duration, good lacings. Aroma has sweet caramel, lots of pleasant, heavy hoppiness. Some strawberries and grapefruit. Super mouthfeel, creamy and dry. Flavour is super dry, lots of hops with crispy caramel malts behind it. Strawberries and apples abound in the hops. Really great beer. I need more! brewski519 (392), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Jan 1, 2009 This kicked up version of Dead Guy Ale pours a deep amber with a very thick foamy head. Aroma is piney, hoppy, and alcohol - even my son sitting at the table next to me said he could smell it. Nice taste - picked up the pine, caramel, toffee, hops and maltiness - the alcohol again reminded me that this was a big bad brother to the regular Dead Guy but not so much that it ruined the experience because it certainly did not. MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Dec 31, 2008 Nice brown haze with a creamy head. Aroma has a nutty yeast banana smell hiding in it. Hoppy citrus and some sugary caramel makes some appearances in the aroma as well. Flavor is marked by a very viscous, oily fruity taste. There is just small bit of bitterness hiding at the end. For such an imposing name, bottle and abv, this is a very relaxed and smooth beer. swanmann (304), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Dec 31, 2008 Poured into a snifter, the neck of the bottle choked up rich brassy tones with medium sized, quick tan head. It smells of intense sweet caramel and alcohol. Yummy! The flavor is alcoholic and sharply acidic. A nice sweetness emerges, somewhat syrupy. It’s fairly carbonated, so I’m not sure how this would cellar, but it sounds like this was released in March, which makes 9 months old already. Go Rogue!
