Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Poured into a snifter, the neck of the bottle choked up rich brassy tones with medium sized, quick tan head. It smells of intense sweet caramel and alcohol. Yummy! The flavor is alcoholic and sharply acidic. A nice sweetness emerges, somewhat syrupy. It’s fairly carbonated, so I’m not sure how this would cellar, but it sounds like this was released in March, which makes 9 months old already. Go Rogue!

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Malty, earthy, light spice aroma. Malty flavor with alcohol, light spice, and some backing hops. Medium bodied. Alcohol lingers with malt, spice, and earth.

An expensive pour (its an expensive beer) at The Local Option of amber red with a soapy creamy head. Nose of red ripe fruit, malt, and a touch of spice. Smooth slick body. Red fruit and caramel/toffee malt flavors. The malty flavors have a slight hint of alcohol but not overdone. Bitter finish with charred malts. Decent beer, but nothing blowing me away.

of course the first thing you notice is the awesome bottle...after that, it pours a nice deep amber color, and formed a 4 finger head for me, and still had a one finger head by time i finished, it was pretty white, and rocky, and pretty thick. Pretty sweet taste to it, and it finishes a bit more bitter then i would normally prefer, but its not off putting for me. I can also taste the alcohol in the end, but its not TOO overbearing. I still prefer the Dead Guy Ale to this, for the less bitter taste and DEFINITELY for the price, i wouldnt buy again, not because its a bad brew, but because its not worth the money to me....but of course i would drink it if it was given to me... :)

On tap at 1702 - Pours a hazy amber color with a small off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is toasted malt and hops. Flavor is mainly hops with a little malt sweetness and a dose of alcohol. Palate is somewhat bitter. Medium body. Pretty good beer.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, floral hops, and alcohol. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and slightly hot alcohol. Good but the beer lacks balance.

This was a good beer but it was to much for me. I am an avid dead guy drinker and this to me throu off the balance that i fell in love with the regular dead guy. Hazy orange in collour and a long dry bitter finnish.

Strong malt aroma. Hazy orange color with a small white head. Lightly sweet beginning with a moderate bitterness developing late in the finish. Mildly creamy.
