Oct 19, 2009 750 ml bottle. Rich malty aroma, sweet caramel, earthy malt, bubblegum. Smells great. Pours a true-mahogany-amber with nice off white head. Taste is of sweet caramel, wet leaves, rich, rich malt. The hops come through for a bitter finish. Very nice, but overpriced compared to other beers of comparable quality.

does not count  Oct 18, 2009 A little sweeter than I expected, yet still bitter enough that you feel it for a few minutes after you drink. Appearance and aroma of caramel. I drank the 750 ml. bottle and i feel it. I guess thats the "double" part of it. Truthfully i like this more than regular Dead Guy Ale. Good stuff

Oct 18, 2009 On tap. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma of overly sweet caramel, light fruit and pine. Flavor is sugary sweet with lots of hop bitterness. Thick syrupy mouth feel with average carbonation and a long sweet finish. How many times did I use the word sweet in this rating, too much, not a big fan of this one.

Oct 14, 2009 Rogue brings it on this one!!! Pours a reddish-brown with nice lacing. The aroma lends itself more to malt than the Cascade hops. Which was surprising because I didn’t expect Rogue to use Cascades. Aroma is caramel and toffee. Taste is layers of rich malt, caramel and toffee with a finish that is intense Cascade hops!!

The aroma is dominated by caramel with hints of vanilla.
Caramel to reddish color with about an inch of cream colored head.
The flavor also has a strong prescence of caramel. One of the best strong ales I have had.
Palate has a nice thickness but is nothing too special.

does not count Oct 11, 2009 Pours medium amber with a full head.Caramely/malty aroma. Quite a thick smooth malty taste with incipient bitterness running out to high hop bitterness at the end. A sipper, not a quaffer! Very nice.

Oct 7, 2009 Very good brown beer. I enjoyed the malty flavor... just enough hops to balance the malt, but the malt dominates. Long finish, and a good cover of the 9.5% alcohol. Nicely done.
