Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Dark amber color. Intense scent of citrus hops. Flavor is on the sweeter side with hints of caramel, but balances well with the powerful hops. Full on the palate and the finishes is a tad bitter.

Reddish color, decent head formation, great lacing. Very flowery aroma. Caramel like initial taste and a hoppy/bitter finish. Normally I prefer a smoother finish but this was great and well worth the price tag.

Reddish amber color. Nice one inch head. Aroma of caramel and pine. Starts slightly sweet and malty, but finishes strong with the hops.

The look is clear, has a big foamy off white head, and amber in color. Nice lacing with the head. The smell is hops, pine, caramel, and fruits. The taste is caramel, low bitterness, pine, and citrus.

tap at tremont taphouse. Pours amber with a small white head. Notes of doughy malts, bread, hay, caramel, and earth. Slightly sweet. Seemed a bit stale. Smooth. Ok

750 ml bottle. Rich malty aroma, sweet caramel, earthy malt, bubblegum. Smells great. Pours a true-mahogany-amber with nice off white head. Taste is of sweet caramel, wet leaves, rich, rich malt. The hops come through for a bitter finish. Very nice, but overpriced compared to other beers of comparable quality.

A little sweeter than I expected, yet still bitter enough that you feel it for a few minutes after you drink. Appearance and aroma of caramel. I drank the 750 ml. bottle and i feel it. I guess thats the "double" part of it. Truthfully i like this more than regular Dead Guy Ale. Good stuff

On tap. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma of overly sweet caramel, light fruit and pine. Flavor is sugary sweet with lots of hop bitterness. Thick syrupy mouth feel with average carbonation and a long sweet finish. How many times did I use the word sweet in this rating, too much, not a big fan of this one.
