Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

750 ml bottle bought in Evanston, Wyoming. Pours out a bright orange-red color with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, some alcohol and light hops. The taste was very nice; lots of caramel malt upfront, very sweet. The finish is slightly bitter; full of hops and very fresh. A nice brew.

Dark golden, bright ale, nice creamy, thick creme coloured head. great malty aromas, sugars, whiff of alcohol and cream. Very creamy, malty taste, on the sweet side, some hint of hops but its small. Some alcohol in the end..almost sherry/port like. Mouthfeel is rich and gooey..a tiny bit cloying maybe in the end. Good drinker. ASA? hmmmm this is like a hyper strength helles to me Its Ok but probably not worth the cash most will spend for this

Pours a clear reddish orange color with an off-white head that settles quickly to a thin layer or patches. The aroma is malty and floral with some citrus notes as well. Citrusy flavors, sweet malts, lemons, and a grapefruit bitter hoppy finish. Not all that thick underneath and far easier drinking and lighter than I was expecting. Over-priced, but then again this is Rogue we’re talking about. All in all this is a pretty good hoppy Strong Ale from Rogue but nothing really stands out and I can’t see getting this again when I can get better for a fraction of the price.

Poured red with orange highlights, substantial off-white head that seemed to rise from nothing before settling back to nothing. Nose shows alot of hops and malt, in almost equal proportions. Caramel is the most dominant character. Palate shows some more caramel before some sweet malt gives way to dominating bitter hops. The sweet caramel malt again makes an appearance to take a bit of sting out of the aggressive hops. Shows a spirit like aniseed on the nose as it warms.

Shared with DrBayern, pours from cool 750 ml bottle, a coppery resin color. Aroma of brown sugars, hops, malts with a particular toffee/caramel scent. Flavour much of the same, malty sweetness with some hop kick, caramel malts balance out this beer. Smoothness of this beer makes it wickedly dangerous, however it is bliss. Rogue does it again.

75 cL bottle, courtesy of Phil_L (at chris_o tasting) and Papsoe (bottle given and sampled at LCRBM08). Pours clear and deep amber with a creamy tan/orange head. Aroma holds a mild peachy hops note to a solid caramel malty base. Flavour and mouthfeel is a bit sticky sweet yet also with a nice fruity hops note. Solid roasted malty and caramel flavours on the back of the tongue. Bitter finish with a distinct alcohol warmth.
