AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Nov 1, 2008 Halloween Fright Night. Clear copper/rust color with a viscous tan head, nice lacing. Malty sweet aroma is lightly oxidized. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Has a rich, creamed caramel flavor with bittersweet pit fruits. Nice piney hop taste to finish. Now THIS is a Halloween beer... Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours a nice amber colour with a thick foamy head.
Aroma is spicy peppery, caramel and toasted maltiness, pretty fruity as well.
Flavour is fruity earthy hop, caramel and toffee. Very drinkable and the 9.5% is blended very well. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 31, 2008 Courtesy JMFG. Pours a lightly hazy, dark, burnt orange color. A foamy, cream colored head shows decent retention, leaving behind soapy lacing that dries to random spots and flares. The aroma is a buttery, diacetyl bomb, showing an overly sweet caramel malt base and astringent, bitter, floral and citrus hops. The flavor shows more of the same, toasty, sweet caramel, buttered popcorn, and bitter floral hops. Thick and syrupy, the palate is heavy up front, finishing in a dry, biting astringency. Sadly, I’m not disappointed, as my expectations were pretty low to begin with. More of a bad thing does not a good thing make. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Oct 31, 2008 Bottle at LCRBM08. Good caramelly hop aroma. Peppery notes, quite good. Clear amber colour. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Oct 31, 2008 22oz. the red painted and silk screened bottle is a great package! pours copper with a big off white head. aroma is malty with a hint of tartness. mouthful is big bitterness up front with some nice sweet malt that follows. finish has a lingering bitterness that grows after every sip. just a hint of alcohol. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Oct 31, 2008 I enjoyed this delicious brew two nights ago, while watching the Phils clinch their first World Series since 1980. For that reason, I enjoyed the heck out of this brew. PHILS = CHAMPS radagast83 (1272), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Oct 31, 2008 750 ml Bottle. Wow, an extremely powerful version of their regular Dead Guy Ale. Pours very similarly to Dead Guy Ale, an almost crimson amber color with a nice white head. Aroma of malts, notes of hops. Flavor is alcohol sweetness. This beer has made me want to re-experience how the regular Dead Guy is. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Oct 30, 2008 Pours identical to regular DG, deep amber with a 1/2 inch head. Aroma is sweet like DG, but has a touch more alcohol. Flavor is still true to a maibock, but with a little more alcohol and quite a bit more hop. Very good beer.
