mj (4971), Colorado, USA Oct 18, 2008 Bottle. Insane design, I’m surprised nobody has done this before... certainly a bottle for the wall collection. Pour is lightly hazed honey amber with a patchy, sticky tan head. I’m a huge fan of Dead Guy, always have been, it’s one of the earliest craft beers I was weened on growing up in Oregon, and I’ve developed and sustained a taste for it over the years. The Double Dead Guy has the same corn-heavy but beautiful nose of dirty crystalline candy sugar, sharp (and almost acidic) yeast, and sweet, sweaty, alcoholized fuzel corn, crackers, honey and wet hair... yeah, wet hair. But damn if it doesn’t smell and taste great. I get a bunch of apple and pear when it comes close to room temperature... not bad, not incredible, somewhere between that... hope that helps! Full, thick, frothy, seems no different than regular Dead Guy other than a slight tingle of alcohol right on the back at the end of a drink. I like. Not sure why but I really like. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 18, 2008 Dark red pour, frothy cream head. Malty citrus nose. Initially not that much of an off shoot from the standard Dead Guy. Slightly more creamy mouthfeel, some malt, light toffee/caramel. Strong hop presence. As it warms though, improves. Mouthfeel gets even more creamy, more malt and stickiness. Really laces the glass. Clean finishing. Alcohol non-existant. Well done. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Oct 18, 2008 Ok, now this is beer! This brew pours a honey colored amber-NESS with a tall, permanent creamy head. Aromas of malted hop-NESS pushing caramel. Full, viscous nectar with mellow effers. The texture is like jello. A goopy malty backbone sustains the hive as a few rampant hop troglodytes run amok on a blind date with futility. Malt man crashes hard but the troglodytes make their mark although infinitesimal. Its a solid beer and very extreme for malty goodness. ctvinson (2), , Tennessee, USA does not count Oct 17, 2008 it was alright. i wasn’t overly impressed. definitely not worth 13 bucks but still a nice halloween treat to myself. wished for more hops! DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 17, 2008 Had this beer on draft and was a bit unsure before hand. Haven’t really enjoyed dead guy for a the past couple years, due to the overhaul of craft beer. Plesantly suprised. A nose full of malt followed by a mouth of malt to finish off sweet, ending in hops. Didn’t expect the hops at the end at all. Nice to see sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 16, 2008 Draught at Bar Great Harry. Amber/copper pour with a frothy off-white head. Caramel malt, floral and citrus hops as well as some sticky fruit in the aroma. Flavor of nicely not-too-sweet malts, mostly light caramel, with some peachy ’schnappiness’ and a dry citrusy hop finish. Though I love and look forward to hop bombs, which this isn’t, I was basically pleased by the balance here. Lightly sweet but solid malt body with a definitive hop finish, and stealthy alcohol. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2008 loved this beer. It had a stronger hops taste and the alcohal is completely undetectable. Very drinkable, goes down easy....too easy.
A must try. thehurt01 (201), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 16, 2008 The is a wicked good beer. The body is dark amber with a light brown creamy head. The smell is floral hops. The taste is citrus ant first the a sweet brown sugar and malt. good carbonation and lacing.
