dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Oct 11, 2008 clear amber color, medium off-white head, slight lacing. aroma of sweet malt. the sweet malt is all that i detected in the flavor, also. medium bodied. not much happening here. this beer is not complex at all. the alcohol is well hidden. i’d rather it slapped me in the face. Bartzilla (441), San Diego, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 Sweet mother of Jesus. Tasted like hop extract. To which I’m not opposed to, but really sets it apart from OG Dead Guy. Not an every day drink, but I guess I was glad to try it. Very very bitter. Kinda pricey in the $10 range, but who knows if it was just the bottle shop jacking the price on the fancy bottle or what. Had this on tap months ago at Hamilton’s and it tasted different. Such is the case. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle pours an orange amber red with a decent and a quite clingy head and lazy squatter lace left behind. The aroma is caramel malt and some hops. The flavor is a dance of sweetness and bitterness. There is a solid malt foundation to hold the lasting, but pleasant hops. The palate is like regular Dead Guy, but even more rich. Overall, there is nothing overly wrong with this. In fact, I’d venture to call it quite good. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 10, 2008 Aroma is mainly of sweet caramel malts, bread, and a slight bit of hops. Beautiful appearance: a copper color with strong white foam. The initial mouthfeel is nice and thick. The flavor is a bit of a shock. I was expecting a slightly more alcoholic version of regular Dead Guy. This guy’s flavor is very, very hoppy. Mainly floral hops, and the caramel sweetness I had expected is miniscule in comparison. This is the reverse of what I noticed in the aroma. I don’t consider the malts and hops to be in good balance here. The finish is VERY long, and astringent from the use of hops. In truth, I think I like the regular Dead Guy better. Not a bad beer, but overpriced. (Note: I got this in New Beer Distributors on Chrystie St. in NYC for $7.50, by far the cheapest I’ve ever seen). daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2008 200th rating of the beer. Pours a nice amber color with a big mostly white head. Aroma is a great blance between malt and hops. Some good floral hops and caramel mix well together. Flavor is very nice too. Caramel, fruit, and some great citrus hop bite. Very good beer...expensive, but good. bethmatt0421 (317), Covington, Kentucky, USA Oct 9, 2008 Looks wonderful in the glass, dark caramel color with a controllable white head. Dark fruits, resiny, plum. Hops are big and lasting in the finish. I definitely enjoyed it. Rogue, as always, kicks ass. General66 (167), Streator, Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2008 Had this on tap at the Blind Pig in Champaign, IL. I had been thinking about buying a bomber of this for a bit, so when I saw that it was on tap I got pretty excited. Poured a very nice orange color with a nice sized off-white head that left swirls in the top of the beer through the duration. Aroma consisted of quite a bit of hops, with some citrus fruits, and a lot of malt. The taste was very good with quite a bit of fruit taste and a hoppy bitterness in the background. Overall, I was impressed with this beer. I was afraid Rogue was just trying to make a quick buck. Very enjoyable! JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 On tap, I forget the name of the tap room :P Pours a fairly deep amber with an off-white head. Sweet caramel malt, toffee, hints of fruit and citrus, biscuits, and a bitter hoppy finish. Pretty standard for an ASA.
