General66 (167), Streator, Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2008 Had this on tap at the Blind Pig in Champaign, IL. I had been thinking about buying a bomber of this for a bit, so when I saw that it was on tap I got pretty excited. Poured a very nice orange color with a nice sized off-white head that left swirls in the top of the beer through the duration. Aroma consisted of quite a bit of hops, with some citrus fruits, and a lot of malt. The taste was very good with quite a bit of fruit taste and a hoppy bitterness in the background. Overall, I was impressed with this beer. I was afraid Rogue was just trying to make a quick buck. Very enjoyable! JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 On tap, I forget the name of the tap room :P Pours a fairly deep amber with an off-white head. Sweet caramel malt, toffee, hints of fruit and citrus, biscuits, and a bitter hoppy finish. Pretty standard for an ASA. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Oct 8, 2008 Cool bottle! Pours a clear dirty orange with a thick light tan head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of doughy bread and soda. Flavor of sweet malt, bread, light fruits (apple). Doesn’t taste very hoppy like I would expect from an ASA, mostly it’s just lots of malt. Alright though. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Aroma super rich and super malty with that toffee and caramel, also some sugary candy. Flavor quickly becomes somewhat cloying with that sugary candy. Still has a bunch of all that malty goodness, but it just gets out of wack. Sad, really. Had so much potential. steview (901), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 dead translucent copper body, dark orange highlight, thick and sparkling tan head; clean--sweet for one second, then quickly bittersweet, with reminiscence of rye and light citrus, ending semi-dry; chewy, but smooth; good. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 7, 2008 Cool bottle. Kinda’ pricey. Nice amber-red color with a nice head to boot. Really enjoyed the palate (chewy and full of texture, yet not too heavy and/or syrupy). Complex malts took the stage (over the hops) by a small margin, and they offered notes of dark dough, multigrain bread, peanut shells, toffee, chocolate and a hint of black coffee. Hops were also nice, as they were full of fresh-cut grass, earthy herbs and dried flowers, along with some bitterness to round things out. Alcohol didn’t seem sharp at all. Enjoyable, tasty beer. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 Clear dark amber, with an enormous off-white head and fantastic lacing. Nose of sweet caramel malts and PNW hops. Taste matches the nose ... hops, malts, sweet caramel, almost in balance, but with a huge hoppy finish. Maybe subtract half a point for the over-the-top alcohol? A lovely beer, even if not exactly a session beer! LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Oct 7, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours clear acopper in color with tan head. Aroma sweet, malty, yeasty and light hops. Taste of caramel, malt and citrus hops with bitter finish.
