Sep 29, 2008 Love the Dead Guy Ale, and this one is even better. Pours clear ruby red with an off-white head. Delicious Munich and crystal malt in the aroma with a healthy helping of hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Resin and pink grapefruit hops in the taste, with the tang of the crystal malt. It truly is an Imperial version of the Dead Guy.

Sep 29, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent copper color with a medium off-white head that lasts only a short while and leaves good lacing. The aroma is light with caramel malts. The flavor is sweet malts and some biter piney hops. The mouthfeel is full. The finish is long and biter. Overall: I was rather underwhelmed by this brew, nothing objectionable, but nothing really distinguishing either. I’ll pass in the future.

Sep 29, 2008 growler thanks to my friend Tricia- pours orangish amber with a quickly dissipating head- apply/ester aroma- with accompanying husk flavors and strong bitterness. Some sweetness in there as well, but mostly up front.- best done in moderation.

Sep 29, 2008 Aroma is a mild sweet malt scent with some nice hop tones. Color is deep orange amber with light carbonation and a thin tight head. Taste is hoppy, rich and bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a rich feel. Finish comes in with a floral soapy flavor then a candy like taste comes in followed by a mellow bitterness. After taste is bright with more bitterness and the floral taste continuing on. This is an interesting brew and although the hops come out with a soapy taste its not bad and is better then all of the brews out there that have way too much of a grapefruit taste in them.

Sep 29, 2008 Pricey 750 painted red. Bought today at Bevmo. Pours orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet with weird notes. Taste is somewhat more hoppy with some malty notes. This was not work the $$ its got some good taste but I prefer dead guy to double dead guy.

Sep 28, 2008 Red bomber poured a clear copper with a small lasting light amber head. Aromas of carmel, toasted malt and light spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toasted malt, earthiness and light pine with a smooth lightly warming lingering malty finish.

Sep 28, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Biscuity cereals and their honeyed companion sweetness shower in coniferous hop resins in this slick and stern American Strong Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the hazy amber.
-The hoppiness is also quite orangey, an impression emboldened by the honeyed malt sweetness.
-Alcohol is perceptible throughout.
-The energetic, tiny bubbles succeed in alleviating most of the beer’s heaviness.
-Even though the flavor profile is intense, it remains rather balanced.
-That resinous hoppiness provides lasting bitterness.
