Commercial Description:
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue's classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU's approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

Was not terribly impressed. I’ve started exploring the Rogues and figured I’d try this one but the bitter kick in the palate is more than I care for. Warm, hoppy flavor and a cool golden hue with a fluffy head. Aromas of wheat and spice but again, the finish is what did me in. Nice beer Rogue but I know you’ve done better.

On tap at Mahars. Pours an ugly, cloudy red with not a lot of head, aroma is somewhat sublte for a big beer. Flavor is hoppy and sweety, a really good balance, alcohol is well hidden too.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Rogue. I’ve long seen them as a bit of the player of brewing. Catchy names. Nice packaging. Taste never fully lives up to the hype. I went for this because it is a "special" release. See? The hype still works. Rogue champions all packaging. All in all, though, not bad at all. Malty. Creamy. Not an intense Strong Ale, but very tasty and hoppy. Worth a few dollars less than its 11 buck tag. But nice all around.

Pours a deep caramel color with a hefty light tan head. Aroma is very malty, with some grassy hops and alcohol. Flavor is also predominately malty, with some piney hops and the alcohol is once again noticeable. Has a nice full body and a good balance. An enjoyable beer.

Taster - Washington Beer Commission Oktoberfest - Seattle, WA
Aroma – Deep malt and high alcohol aroma with a strong hoppy nose.
Appearance – Dark Amber in color, clear with a light head.
Flavor – A very tasty strong ale with a good hops backing. Slight high alcohol taste.
Palate – Crisp Mouthfeel, nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A big beer that really has some great flavor. This was not packing so much punch that it hurts to drink. Good Beer.

750 ml. Clear, iced-tea color with a one-finger creamy head that coats the glass on the way out. Mild aroma of caramel and lemon-honey. Molasses, orange, and caramel front gives way to resin, wood and dry citrus. Medium body is soft and smooth, with a hop-dry finish and some alcohol warmth.
