I’ve long seen them as a bit of the player of brewing. Catchy names. Nice packaging. Taste never fully lives up to the hype. I went for this because it is a "special" release. See? The hype still works. Rogue champions all packaging. All in all, though, not bad at all. Malty. Creamy. Not an intense Strong Ale, but very tasty and hoppy. Worth a few dollars less than its 11 buck tag. But nice all around. GMUcrew7 (360), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours a deep caramel color with a hefty light tan head. Aroma is very malty, with some grassy hops and alcohol. Flavor is also predominately malty, with some piney hops and the alcohol is once again noticeable. Has a nice full body and a good balance. An enjoyable beer. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

Aroma – Deep malt and high alcohol aroma with a strong hoppy nose.
Appearance – Dark Amber in color, clear with a light head.
Flavor – A very tasty strong ale with a good hops backing. Slight high alcohol taste.
Palate – Crisp Mouthfeel, nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A big beer that really has some great flavor. This was not packing so much punch that it hurts to drink. Good Beer.

Clear, iced-tea color with a one-finger creamy head that coats the glass on the way out. Mild aroma of caramel and lemon-honey. Molasses, orange, and caramel front gives way to resin, wood and dry citrus. Medium body is soft and smooth, with a hop-dry finish and some alcohol warmth. KimJohansen (7006), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2008 750 mL bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with 3 cm of tan foamy mostly diminishing head. Aroma of caramel, yeast, and hops. Initial flavor of sweet caramel malt. Flavor becomes more balanced as the citrus hops show up on the back end. Aftertaste is fairly bitter and long lasting. Light carbonation, light lacing, light to medium body, and definite alcohol presence especially as it warms. Overall another well done beer by Rogue and worth a try. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Updated: Sep 16, 2008Pours a clear red-amber copper with some effervescence, produced a nice foamy off-white head, aroma of piney and citrus hops when the cap was popped, a big aroma of caramel sweetness and light fruit, yeast, there is a cake and honey sweetness aroma in the background, flavors of sweet caramel and malt, some flavors of roasted and toasted malt, has a medium or more hop bitterness that persists after the finish, I felt a little warmth from the alcohol but it is hidden pretty well, mouth feel is more then medium, feels creamy on the palate (tulip glass), this was ok but not exciting like some of the other American Strong Ales, I was hoping this would have a lot to offer but falls short of being a great drink. hoooraybeer (48), Cranford, New Jersey, USA
