3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
First of all I liked the bottle.....from there the beer pours out a nice clear dark copper color with a small to moderate white head. Aroma is of some sweet malts, slight fruit and a little pine/floral hops notes. Taste is complex, some light fruit, yeast and sweet malts, toffee come through first, with a nice dry hop bitterness going on in the background and on the finish. You can tell the beer is heavy, but there are no real boozy notes to be found. Overall, well done, but a bit on the pricey side.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Pours a dark coppery amber with a beige head that was not much. Rich sweet malt aroma over a little resin. Medium plus body with mildly fizzy carbonation. Flavor is pretty sweet, almost like kandi, but there is a fair amount of hop bitter. Slightly more sweet than bitter, there’s still a great deal of hop in the finish. Much like a hoppy barley wine is my impression. Smooth and seductive. Session this. It’ll work, but it might be your last session. Note: It’s not a ceramic bottle; painted glass.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at PP C-Bad. Clear amber orange hue, thin layer of off-white head and modest lacing. Nose is bubblegum and citrus, pine resin, florals, pale malts. Taste is sweet grain malts, cotton candy yeast, orange/citrus hops, touch of pine resin, finishes sweet and dry with slight alcohol warming. Thick and chewy texture with moderate carbonation. A solid strong ale with a nice range of sweet malts and hops, a surprising variation on an old favorite.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear reddish-orange with a great, lasting head and loads of lacing. Sweet, bready aroma similar to the original Dead Guy but a bit sweeter and very faint. Same bready buttery taste as the Dead Guy but the similarity ends there - lots and LOTS of hops in this sucker, great supportive toffee-like malting. Light peppery finish. Thick body, creamy mouthfeel, great carbonation. This is dangerously dangerously sessionable - lots of alcohol, be careful! Very tasty but... $14? Ouch.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the overpriced 750ml bottle this poured a deep amber body with a smallish off-white head that lasted throughout most of the drinking. Nice lace. Has a fruity, malty nose with strong citrus hops. The flavor isn’t complex yet satisfies, just enough malt to support the sturdy PNW hopping. Dry, bitter finish. No signs of the strong alcohol content either while drinking or afterwards. Is this really 9.5% ABV?
