COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
JLS Release #34: Double Dead Guy ~ initially released in kegs for JLS accounts, this new elixir will be launched in 750 ml ceramic bottles in the spring of 2008! D2 (our nickname for Double Dead Guy) is a new reincarnation of Rogue’s classic Dead Guy Ale. Mahogany in color, full bodied with an amazing mid-palette richness of toffee and caramel. The hops are evident also, with just enough to keep the maltiness in check. The finish lasts > 15 seconds!! D2 is Double the Fun! Malts: 2-row Pale, Munich, C15. Hops. Cascade for boil (because John was out pf Perle) and Crystal for aroma (because John was out of Sterling ...) IBU’s approx 50-60. 19.8 Plato Original Gravity, 4.9 Plato Terminal Gravity.

’09 Vintage enjoyed in a taster with friends.

A - bronze appearance 3 finger yellowish white head that fades slowly.

S - caramel and brown sugar. Hint of oranges.

T - Lots of peet and caramelized sugar. Hints of pears and a slightly sweet rum finish. Banana? Hard to tell. Bitter hoppy throughout but not as much as fresh. Hops are certainly a bit cheesy.

M - Medium body. high carbonation still.

O - Not bad. Decently drinkable after 2 years.

2009 Vintage A - Hazy copper amber. 2 fingers of tan head that clings to the side of the glass. S - Loads of fruity malt, plums, red grapes, doughy yeast, sweet oranges, maple syrup, oak wood. T - Sweet toasted toffee malt, caramelized brown sugar, soft buttery flavor, fruity, woody hop resin coats the tongue. M - Viscous, creamy carbonation, very nice texture. This has aged very well. The hops are still present and really help compliment the finish. Very smooth flavors and great mouthfeel. Serving type: bottle 07-25-2011

Poured from a 750ml, 2008 bottle. The aroma is dominated by sweet alcohol and malts. The flavor is fruity alcohol, toffee, chocolate, oxidation. There aware noticeable signs of oxidation, but still a tasty beer.

750 ml bottle. Amber orange color topped by.a small beige head that leaves a leopard-like spotted clinging lace. Aroma is sweet butterscotch malt. Flavorful toasted malt palate is ripe with peppery hops and complex spicy nuances. Nicely balanced with a chewy, long dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, medium-dark copper with some soapy head. Aroma and malts are very similar to regular dead guy ale. Meh.

Pours copperish with some beige fizz. Musty grainy aroma with the familiar rouge yeast notes. Very earthy grains and a kind of barleywineish with a modest sweetness.
