3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
’09 Vintage enjoyed in a taster with friends.
A - bronze appearance 3 finger yellowish white head that fades slowly.
S - caramel and brown sugar. Hint of oranges.
T - Lots of peet and caramelized sugar. Hints of pears and a slightly sweet rum finish. Banana? Hard to tell. Bitter hoppy throughout but not as much as fresh. Hops are certainly a bit cheesy.
M - Medium body. high carbonation still.
O - Not bad. Decently drinkable after 2 years.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
FROM NOTES: November 8, 2013.
A: Heavy bready malt aroma and a nice caramel sweetness. Mixed with these are lighter aromas of a floral and herbal nature as well as a lighter citrus hop smell. Faint fig notes.
A: Pours a hazy orange-red almost sunrise-like color with almost no head.
T: Follows the nose, although not quite as sweet. Nice and malty with subdued spices and fruits with a nice hop bitterness to round everything off. Alcohol is well hidden.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: Overall, a good heavy almost barley-wine like and bitter brew. If you like Dead Guy, you’ll undoubtedly like Double Dead Guy

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 Oz. Bottle. Reddish amber with small head, Aroma is big malts and hops. This is my opinion is a hoppier (if that’s a word) version of their regular Dead Guy Ale; Never the less a very nice beer.

So average its just painful to score. Big malts, hops, medium to full bodied, dark red, strong carbonation, some dark fruit. Nothing really interesting.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Moderate gusher upon opening. Pours hazy deep orange copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, pear, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, floral, light pepper, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, pear, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, biscuit, nuttiness, light pepper, floral, herbal, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, pear, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, biscuit, nuttiness, light pepper, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/toasty malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; with big robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice strong ale. All around good balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/bready/nutty malt and fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 1/20
On tap. Dark reddish amber with small off white head. Aroma of malt, biscuit, faint marmalade and fruity hops, dipa is my spontaneous impression. Taste is malty, grain, fruit, biscuit and marmalade. Thin texture with fairly low carbonation. Nice!

4.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Muted aroma - super smooth on the palate - super sweet - honeyed aftertaste - far too easy to drink - massive abv so could be a killer! But ’dead’ good!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 7-29-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, slightly hazy orange golden body, and spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malts, bitter, citrus, and earthy hops. The Taste is heavily bitter, caramel malts, citrus hops, and has a very long bitter dry finish. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer has a nice balance between the aroma and flavor, worthy trying, and a beer I would drink again.
