Toffeed malt, and celery hop on the nose with some crushed mint. This is over a year old. Also some baked bread malts on the nose and later on the palate. Nice palate, the hops have faded on the nose, but the malt hasn’t seemed to of oxidized much at all. Fresh bread continues on the palate as the malts turn more towards caramel with a bitter sea salt twang reeling in the candy. Old citrusy hops and earthy bitter notes linger in the palate. Off-putting at first, but the second snifter has me warming up nicely. Wouldn’t recommend aging this guy, but it doesn’t kill the beer at all. 87

Taste- Grapenuts, caramel, slight barn, subdued hops. Far more bold and better than just a double version of Dead Guy. Intensely full palate and rich, yet not overly sweet. v.2009 Mora2000 (78), Dallas, Texas, USA

Pours cloudy orange with a huge white head. Aroma is malty sweetness withe some fruit. Flavor is very fruity with a good malt backbone and enough hops to keep the beer from being overly sweet. Medium mouthfeel and a pretty drinkable beer. I have had this before and enjoyed it better this time. GJF (522), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA

An incredibly creamy, dense head on it with lots of lacing. Generally malty with a dry, bitter finish with just a touch of alcohol at the end. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Bottle:   Dirty amber, hazy, large rocky off-white head, sticky lacing.   Looks decent enough.   Alcohol on the nose, some graininess, a bit of a musty maltiness, grassy, hay, straw, barnish... reminds me of an Imperial Pilsener.   Fiery maltiness, certainly barnish, musty, a little bit of cereal.   Oddly enough it seems lighter than the standard Dead Guy, at least in color and maltiness.   This seems more, and is more alcoholic, as well as cereal like.   Has a fairly good hop presense.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   This really comes across as a highly hopped fiery pilsener.   Um... yeah.   Not what I thought a souped up Dead Guy Ale would be.   Not bad, but the alcohol comes through too easily.   Could stand to be a bit maltier, and sweeter.   Otherwise, not too bad.

It pours an amber-red with a half-inch of frothy cream head and excellent clarity and lacing on the glass. The aroma is of roasted caramel malts and a little raisin. Floral hops are also in the mix. The mouthfeel is bold. The taste is bitter and tart with a mild hoppy ending. A wonderful brew. Tonkun (27), New York, USA

Initial "kick" of caramel, toffee and cream, along with alcohol. Medium to full body with a lot of depth and complexity: caramel, cola candy, cafe ole, cream. A very long finish. More complex, bigger and creamier than Dead Guy. italianjohn (401), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
