SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2008 26 oz. bottle - Poured pale amber with nice medium head, great lacing on glass. First off I am a huge fan of Dead Guy and when I saw DDG I did not hesitate. Aroma is sweet like cotton candy, similar to DG but sweeter. Taste is so smooth and well balanced. I thought I died and gone to beer heaven. Rogue is my favorite brewer and DDG is their finest creation !!!! Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Oct 19, 2008 Pours a nice dark honey-golden, clear with fine bubbles, and a very thick off-white and fairly persistent head. Aroma is strong and malty with undertones of caramel and hops. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy, with a good balance of maltiness and a sweet undertone - there is a fair amount of bitterness, but it is not overwhelming. Texture is smooth and edgy and very pleasing. Overall, another winner from Rogue. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 2, 2008 I love this beer! Double Dead Guy Ale is amaing! The look is a beautiful amber/orange color. Nice off white head. Looks thick and full bodied. The smell is of malty sweetness, hoppy, grapefruit hop notes, citrusy/fruity and a hint of floral/pine hop. The taste...oh...my...god! This is amazing! Alcohol is present, hoppy and sweet maltyness to it. Hop taste is just like the smell. Wombata (74), Kobe, Japan Sep 20, 2009 On tap at Portland Intl airport.
Appearance:
Aroma: port-like, dried fruit--prunes, raisons, possibly mango-- intense deep roasted malt
Flavor: Similar to the aromas. Restrained hops may slightly reign in the huge malt flavors--roasted caramel malt, prune, ripe orange notes, roasted milk chocolate.
Comments: Very very big with complex aromas and malt flavors that evolve in the glass. A few sips can go a long way, and gave me a very pleasant, mellow buzz to end my session. This just can’t be compared to a standard beer; better to think of a young, ageable port. The complexity and changing flavors reminded me of the one (and probably only) time that I got to try Sam Adam’s Utopia. It helps to sip and enjoy this slowly over 30 to 60 minutes and all will be right with the world.
DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Mar 8, 2008 Yummy! Cheers to Rogue for using my favorite hops - Cascade for the boil. A richer, bit denser version of the classic favorite Dead Guy. Plenty of familarity for Dead Guy fans, but again more rich, more toasted malt flavor. Very enjoyable, very much recommended. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Mar 12, 2008 Updated: May 10, 2008I hear sireens gettin nearer red n blue lights in my rear view mirror. Pull over? Nope, nope, wit a car fulla smoke an a trunk fulla dope. I hit the gasser, go faster, all ya hear is duel exhaust flow master. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2008 Hazy dark amber pour with big, firm, off-white head and good lacing. Nose is full of malt, toffee, caramel, hops. Flavor was rich and complex. Big malt profile with caramel and toffee sweetness that was tamed by an aggressive amount of hops to provide a complementing bitterness. Full bodied, rich and a chewy texture. This is one beauty of a beer that just keeps getting better as it warms a bit. Rogue has created a monster of a Dead Guy. A must try!
