Nice medium copper pour with a soft white head that sticks around quite a while. Fresh, sprucey aroma with some hints of ripening vegetables. Flavor is full bodied and full of caramel, toffee, grapefruity citrus and a hint of vegetable funkiness. Mouthfeel is a little on the stinging side - but can be expected with the high abv and over the top hops. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Currently there are 33 beers that come up with a search for "dead" but this is the only one for "double dead". When I first saw Dead Guy in Calgary it was the same price as other craft beers. Now that it has reentered the province it is pushing $21 for a 6-pack. Still very cool to find this beer even at $11. I like the red bottle and double skull logo. Dark thick amber liquid. Good starting head and a lasting thin skiff. Aroma of hops, peach and apricot with a hint of alcohol. Makes me think both of a Maibock and almost a Barley Wine. Flavour is a darker mix of fruit and alcohol than the nose implies. Almost liqueur-like. It is indeed a long finish of alcohol and wood. Somewhat mouth drying. Almost like someone added a dash of chocolate to a high ABV Maibock. Lots of biscuit, dried apricot and alcohol. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Lots of malt and tons of hops with the malts winning out by a nose. Dry finish with the alcohol hidden really well. My favorite new Rogue in a while. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2008 Tap @ The Front Door: A mahogany colored hue with a puffy tan head. The nose is subtle with sweet caramel and plum, some extra alcohol on top of the regular dead guy but still fairly 1-dimensional. The flavor is nice; noticeable citrusy hops and yeast esters, full mouthfeel and a balanced, pleasant drinkability. Long tail of moist rich bread into the finish. ¾ (5012), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Insane design, I’m surprised nobody has done this before... certainly a bottle for the wall collection. Pour is lightly hazed honey amber with a patchy, sticky tan head. I’m a huge fan of Dead Guy, always have been, it’s one of the earliest craft beers I was weened on growing up in Oregon, and I’ve developed and sustained a taste for it over the years. The Double Dead Guy has the same corn-heavy but beautiful nose of dirty crystalline candy sugar, sharp (and almost acidic) yeast, and sweet, sweaty, alcoholized fuzel corn, crackers, honey and wet hair... yeah, wet hair. But damn if it doesn’t smell and taste great. I get a bunch of apple and pear when it comes close to room temperature... not bad, not incredible, somewhere between that... hope that helps! Full, thick, frothy, seems no different than regular Dead Guy other than a slight tingle of alcohol right on the back at the end of a drink. I like. Not sure why but I really like. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
