The aroma is sweet caramel malts, toasted toffee, and some fruits and a little alcohol.
The flavor is toasted biscuity malts, nuts and some fruitiness with a little alcohol and some decent bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low smooth carbonation.
Overall, an interesting beer. I like this a lot better than than the regular version but there’s still some of the toasted biscuity malts that I don’t much care for. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Starts off a little bit metallic but this quickly fades. Light pine and sweet herbal hoppiness. Rich sweet and chewy, some light sweet caramel malts. Sweet and nutty with some light citrus/berry fruity character. It’s a pretty nice brew. Sammy (4070), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Caramel malt aroma, faint fruitiness. Flavour is also largely relies on caramel malt, also some toffee. Some welcome citrus hop accents cut the sweetness. Grapefruit bitterness lingers for a while, slight grassy aftertaste. Medium body, light carbonation. Alcohol is hidden pretty well by the hops, but still shows a bit in the finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Basically very similar to Dead Guy Ale, but with a stronger hop presence. Not very hoppy itself, just in comparison to the normal Dead Guy. Overall, a little sweet, and strong malt flavor. I found it interesting, but I’m not loving it. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Bottle from Holiday Wine. Color is a medium mahogany with a firm layer of foam for a head. Aroma is sweet and strong toffee/caramel malt similar to the regular dead guy ale but instead doubled. The flavor is dense with malt and also carries a medium load of bitter hops while the sweet caramel flavors over dominate the beer making it so obvious this is an imperial red ale. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2008 From the overpriced 750ml bottle this poured a deep amber body with a smallish off-white head that lasted throughout most of the drinking. Nice lace. Has a fruity, malty nose with strong citrus hops. The flavor isn’t complex yet satisfies, just enough malt to support the sturdy PNW hopping. Dry, bitter finish. No signs of the strong alcohol content either while drinking or afterwards. Is this really 9.5% ABV?

Aroma was a pleasant surprise. Sweet caramel malts, dark pitted fruits, toffee. Flavor is heavily malty. Just the slightest bit of hop bitterness. Warming alcohol at the finish to compliment the sweet sticky notes.
