3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had this beer on draft and was a bit unsure before hand. Haven’t really enjoyed dead guy for a the past couple years, due to the overhaul of craft beer. Plesantly suprised. A nose full of malt followed by a mouth of malt to finish off sweet, ending in hops. Didn’t expect the hops at the end at all. Nice to see

Under the name Dead Guy XS (2015 version at 8.1% abv) at Watering Hole on tap. Clear copper with a small off-white head that lingers. Brown sugar, toffee, light oak on the nose. Lots of caramel and malt flavors with some booze. The body seems way too thin. Woody. Prefer the regular.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Visual: Cellared for 2 years (2013), gorgeous painted black ceramic bottle with a black bailer-top. Pours translucent ruby red with barely any head, a thin hazy micro layer, a few micro tightly knit micro streams here and there.
Nose: malty sweet caramel, lightly toasted, hints of bourbon. (lvl-6)-pungency
Attack: slick-thick creamy, dense maltiness, background hoppy bitter, bourbon notes
Mid-palate: full-bodied, (lvl-5)-sweetness, alcohol detection, (main) medium roast barley malt, toasted caramel, orange citrus
Finish: bitter generic citrus hopped, off-dry malty finish.
Summary: Love the ceramic bottle. Big body with lots of toasted caramel malt and a citrus hop to balance it out. Kind of straightforward after a glass, but enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle from the LCBO in Toronto, Ontario. Deep copper in colour with a thin but long lasting off-white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of caramel, fruit, hops and light alcohol. The flavour is of sweet malts, caramel, fruity hops, light alcohol, some pepper. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, warming. Pretty good stuff, a nice imperial Dead Guy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml from 2008, that poured a murky medium brown with an off white head and decent lacing. The aroma for is an upfront ash or tobacco smell followed by caramels and toffee, also some dark fruits on the end. The flavor was more the same just a bit more pronounced with a warm boozey finish. Over all for ad old as this is the flavor are still strong and warm and really good.

Slight orange flavor. Decent richness. Hazy deep color. Not heavy. Abv is hidden in it. Tap

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Restrained citrus/pine aroma in a cloudy Amber pour. Taste is amazingly laid back and gives no hint of the huge hit (strength wise) one is going to receive. Has to be close to my favourite Rogue brew.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Pours thick from the faucet in a mostly clear burnt orange hue, topped with a small but dense head of sandy tan. The aroma has similar fruity yeast esters to Dead Guy: red delicious apples, white raisin, orange blossom. A bit of honey maltiness as well. The flavor has a similar sweetness, but here itís more malt-focused -- honey, caramel, even a hint of toast. Substantial bitterness settles in at the finish and balances the sugary malts. Itís drinkable, but lacks any special qualities that would require a second helping.

Better in my opinion than the standard dead guy...as good if not better than double bastard. Mouthful of complex malts and balanced hops of big citrus and earthy hops. Long lasting malty finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Cloudy dark amber color, frothy beige head, puffy bands of lace. Taste is caramel malt that grows as it turns more semi-sweet, glides through the palate, growing bigger as it adds solid, balancing, hop bittering. Not terrific, but certainly solid enough.
