This is John Maier’s secret recipe that blends all seven hops grown in the hopyard of Rogue Farms. It is a true taste of the terroir of the Wigrich Appellation, the oldest hops growing region in Oregon.

Bomber from Appellation Wines, cheers Ash! Pours clear amber, thin white head. Aromas of oranges, marmalade, spice and resin. Taste is too sweet though. Lots of marmalade, turning in to bitter Seville orange by the end.

660ml bottle from Hippo Beers. Hazy orange brown, reasonable head. Hoppy aroma. Tropical fruit & hop flavour. Sweet aftertaste. Just a bit too sweet for me but less so than most DIPAs.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy amber body with a thick off-white head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of orange, caramel and grass. Flavour of orange, bitter hops, pine and a faint peppery finish. Great balance - it drinks as easily as a 4.0% ABV Pale Ale. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Lacks the malty sweetness of many US DIPAs, which - for me, anyway - is a good thing.

Hazy orange. Small white head, nice lacing. Malty, hoppy - herbs, pine and citrus - aroma. Not too sweet for an imperial ipa, balanced. Slightly oxidized because it had to cross the ocean before being drank.

660ml bottle from Blackrock cellar. Pours murky thick marmalade orange. White head which reduces. Not much lacing. Aroma is bath oils, spruce, peach, citrus peel. Flavour is heavy citrus caramel with a sharp dry bitter finish. Slick resinous oil mouthfeel. Nice balance with a bit of carbonation to halt an overly treacle feel.

Source: 22oz bottle Very cloudy, almost thick Amber appearance. Aroma is very resiny almost grassy in nature. Not as floral or fruity as I was expecting. The taste is tremendously complex with hop goodness. Way more hop in the taste than in the nose. The amount of hops in the taste actually surprises you after smelling the beer. Malt is present, but mostly in the mouthfeel. With so much hop dominating the taste, it would be hard for any grain to make an appearance on the palate, but it definitely shows up in the mouthfeel. In fact the mouthfeel is almost chewy. Which helps deliver the hops in a balanced way. Overall: a really interesting beer. One I would enjoy repeating. Would definitely recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
