Flat dark brown colored pour. A couple tan bubbles on top. No lacing. Chocolate nose. Some coffee notes and dried dark fruit. Smooth coffee flavor with a bit notes of milk chocolate. Very nice beer.

Bomber from Total Wine in Boca Raton, FL. Stout glass. Pours a very thick, BLACK opaque with a seriously dark brown head. Wow. Aroma is complex with coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, anise, and dark fruits. The taste is primarily coffee, dark chocolate, heavily roasted malts, and slight anise. The mouth is very thick with a great dry, bitter finish. Interesting style but very very good by Rogue.

This is among the blackest beers I have consumed. Even the head is a chocolate color. The aroma is non-descript, not giving many clues to the body which will pass across the tongue. This is a big beer, very sessionable.

from Erzbierschof - black beer with a little dark beige foam left; solid roasted maltiness, almost smokey with notes of coffee and chocolate, hints of hazelnuts, a good malt backbone, tasty and gently bitter; dry and roasted aftertaste of black chocolate and black cherries

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Black-colored with a thick light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, a bit of coffee, some smokiness, herbal notes and a light vegetal note. Smoky and roasty flavor with some coffee, a bit of cocoa and a bit of chocolate. Medium to full-bodied.

On tap at the bocktown. Big and black, very nice pour with a choco moose head. Mild chocolate aroma. Rather flat from the start. Much stronger than I thot. More like a hopped stout er somethin. I don’t like hops in my black loager, werw. Not impressed. Roasty background makes it interesting but sure does need somemanners.
