The taste follows the aroma very closely, malty dark sweetness, then the roasting flavors. Coffee, chocolate, toffee. It ends with a stout-like bitterness which really finishes the profile very well. Mouthfeel rather lighter than you would expect from the taste, but appropriate for the style. I am glad I tried this beer.

Draft->shaker. Pours black with khaki head. Very smoky and bitter, with roasted malt, tobacco, cocoa. Quite good.

On tap at Cookie. Very tasty. Aromas of roast, coffee, and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Black, with a frothy head.

Aroma: Roasted malt with coffee and hazelnut
Flavor: Wow, an unexpected level of complexity. It’s got a peaty, smokey layer on the front end with chewy tobacco notes. Finishes with a pleasant coffee layer
Overall: One of the more memorable and unique Schwatzbiers

Bottle, pours black with a medium dark brown head, fades quickly to a light film. Aroma is big roast and cocoa. Flavor is much the same, big roast, black strap molasses and burnt sugars. Semi sweet cocoa finishes with a little smoke. Really nice stuff with just the right amount of carbonation.

Black with good, foamy, brown head / Rich, toasty nose of roast barley, tobacco, coffee, / Light to medium body, soft carbonation, a touch thin but good balance and bitter finish / Flavors of burnt coffee, toffee, malt, smoke, biscuit, prune / Could use a little more zip to the body, but still a fine brew.

Sticky, thick dark brown with smoky, rich burnt toffee on nose. Full bodied, medium body, chalky chocolate, roast barley, sweet malt finish, fairly dry, slightly piney finish.

On tap. Pours jet black with a tan head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of toffee and dark malts. Taste is slightly acidic, with a big toffee/espresso flavor that fades quickly.

Opaque dark brown - black beer. Small dark tan head. Palate is light and dry. Dry dark malt, little cream. However the malt is over roasted making for an unpleasant burned flavour. Finishes tangy and dry.
