Bottle from my beerguy. Black-brown body with a dark tan head. Big roasted malt aroma, cocoa, and a hint of scorched coffee. Heavy roasted bitter flavor, smoke, burnt grains, and cola-ish taste. Decent.

Bottle. Deep brown color with a medium head and residual lacing. Flavor is roasted and chocolate malts, soft and cereal like. Light bodied but immense in flavor. This is quite the creation, but comes across perfectly. Finish is dry with just a hint of hops buried in there. One of the best Rogue beers they’ve made.

Bomber. Pours very dark, with very dark head. Smells like toast, burnt notes, chocolate. Tastes like chocolate and coffee grounds. Some grassy notes. Low carbonation, no burn to it.

Compliments of doboy (thanks again Ed), pours almost completely black forming a dark, dark brown foamy head. Aroma somewhat smoky, toasted malts, light hoppage and sprng water. Flavour of bitter front with a malty herring bone character. Not a fan of the style, but tasty.

Bomber.Pour is oily black liquid with the darkest head i have ever seen on a beer. Smell is roasted grain and coffeish.La ces the glass and probably colors the digestive tract in black. Tasted was a lot of burnt or extremely roasted grain, coffee, nuts. Oily texture with medium carbonation, some lasting bitterness from the hops and roasted grain.I am not a big fan of black beers but i was surprised that this one was drinkable considering the deep color. Not bad,not great.

Bomber courtesy of SuperDave – thanks Dave! Pours black with a 2 finger mocha head. The nose is burnt rubber and roasted malt. The taste is burnt malt, smoke, pine and bitter coffee. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Interesting beer. Not great, but not too bad either. Thanks again Dave.

My Bottom Line:
Roasted malts and their coffee allusions delve into caramel and chocolate sweetness for a big and bold cousin to the Schwarzbier style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the blackness.
-This is way too bulky for it to be a classic representation of a Schwarzbier, but I cannot say the mouthfeel is not pleasant.
-Some hop resins create bitterness alongside that of the roasted malts.
-Minty edges are also found in the finish.

Bottle.
