11th November 2013
Hazy gold beer with a good white head. Palate is smooth and dry. Mild fine carbonation. Light smooth malt, touch of cream. Very light honey and a whisper of somewhat insipid citrus. Light dry finish. Okay.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Capped 750 from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours translucent gold with a foamy white head. Aroma suggests some sort of dilute aftershave. Fruit? Med body or nearly. Flavor starts sort of sweet, but then a lot of grassy hop stops that. Followed by some breadiness. Seem to be getting honey on my lips. Quite surprisingly drinkable. Honey from hops. What fortunate bees.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Great bright yellow 750 ceramic bottle from Capone’s. Pours chill hazy deep gold with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is hopcitrus, tart lemongrassy, mild honey. Tastes of lemongrassy hops, citrus, mild honey. Medium in complexity and palate heft. OK, not great.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Head is initially small, fizzy/frothy/, white fully diminishing.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain), trace hops (flowers), with notes of cement, ammonia, lemon.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean.
Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Absolute garbage, very dirty. Almost as bad as their mead.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
22, painted all weird. Pours a crystal clear pale gold with a big frothy white head. Grass and hay on the nose, a little funky but not in a barnyard way. Watery thin body, very little carb presence. Light honey on the mid palate. Honey and wheat finish.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
REally wanted to like this one especially at the price tag. Really like this style but this one is dry and buttery.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Bright and golden, quite active. Sweet, blooming aroma. Drinks with a definite honey essence ... very well built into a brilliant kolsch base. I’m not usually a fan of honey-based brews, but I do love the kolsch style, and this is a damn good, sunny, bright beer. I want gallons this the next hot day I have to work in my yard. 3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I liked this more than I anticipated doing. Cloudy yellow, nice white head. Smells fresh and green. Hints of sweet aroma mixed in, too. Flavor is sweet, in a good, not overbearing way. Taste grainy, some delicate berry-like sweetness, and soft grassy hops. I would get this again...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 ounce bottle - $8.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed, light yellow body with a moderate-sized, white, finely-textured head. Thin sheet of lace on the way down.
Smell: Pilsner malts, a little soft wheat detected, with a sweet-scented honeyish note throughout. Sliver of Granny Smith, a bit of waxed lips there, too.
Taste: Light pale malts, pilsner malts. A little touch of wheat. A bit of green apple precludes the honeyesque sweetness. Floral, moist herb hops. Low bitterness. A last hint of honey, waxed lips, apple, and now white wine on the drying, lightly yeasty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Well, if nothing else, it’s a far, far better use of honey than that downright deplorable 19 Original Colonies Mead.
