We made this braggot with our own marionberries, hops, barley, and honey. Situated across from 40 acres of Rogue hops, 119 Colonies of bees were carefully kept, fed, and smoked and the honey was uncapped, extracted, filtered and finally infused into a refreshing Marionberry Braggot.

Bottle sample at West Coast tasting at Beer & Beyond shop. Hazy amber brown with a smell beige head. Smell of berries, honey, licorice, dark fruits and toasted malt. Sweet fruity flavors with notes of berries, plums, honey, raisins, slightly tart, alcoholic warmth, a bit medicinal herbal bitterness. Medium-full bodied, syrupy and sticky. Rich and interesting.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon. Against strong light the pour is dark ruddy copper with a beige head. Aroma is berry. Neither red nor blue nor black. Nor straw. But clearly berry. Med + body. Flavor is berry (see supra), with honey aspects and some malt. It’s not exactly dry, nor is it exactly bitter, but it contends for those positions. Making me think of graham crackers and jelly. Weird that.

Tap at Bakushu Club Popeye, Tokyo. Dark reddish shade. Very small head. An interesting candyish, bubblegum-like fruity aroma. Blueberry perhaps comes to mind the most. Nice combination of honey, fruit and malt in the taste, and a touch of smokiness. This is decent but I wanted everything to pop that bit more.

Bottle. Pours a murky purplish amber with a ring of head. Aroma and taste are woody and boozy but not much else.

This is our second mead of the night, the 1st one we could rate. It had a nice hoppy taste.
