We made this braggot with our own marionberries, hops, barley, and honey. Situated across from 40 acres of Rogue hops, 119 Colonies of bees were carefully kept, fed, and smoked and the honey was uncapped, extracted, filtered and finally infused into a refreshing Marionberry Braggot.

750mL ceramic bottle from Warners at the Bay Pours a rusty red coloured liquid, hazy, slight ring of foam persists. Vinous aroma - cranberry juice, vinous red fruits, fragrant honey with hints of vanilla & fresh cut flowers. Rich body, subtle carbonation, appreciable acidity & tannin - reminiscent of cranberry once again. Body continues with lovely sweet honey upfront combining with vinous red fruit notes of cherry, plum & cranberry, subtle undertones of vanilla and sherry. Finish bittersweet, acidity lingers, vinous overall impression. Unlike anything I’ve ever come across - never tried a marionberry; seems to add a red wine-like character to the mead.

Pours a light reddish color. Aroma of sweet fruit. The flavor was mostly berry but there is the slight hint of tannin.

750 ml. pours deep chestnut with ruby highlights and a lasting thin film of foam. Nose is marionberry, prune, and lightly spiced bread pudding. Front flavors of prune and dark whole grain bread take a slow turn to lightly tart marionberry and dark toffee. The finish is at first a little off-putting with bitter wood and bitter, dark grain. But later sips show a smoother transition to the finishing bitterness and seem to incorporate some chocolate notes. Medium-plus body has a low-medium carbonation and a fairly drinkable balance. Shows just a hint of the abv.

Bottle, SX Bottle Share, 5/3/2016 White lacing. Opaque. Red caramel base. Aroma is heather honey, caramel and musty barely wine notes. Taste is leather, lovely soft malts, barely, cedar and blackcurrants. Also cane sugar. Easy-drinking for the abv. Really well-made beer!

22. Pours a murky ruddied dark amber with minimal head or lace. Sticky sweet synthetic IHOP pancake syrup nose. Sticky sweet thinnish body. Minimal carb. Mid palate tastes like drinking synthetic pancake syrup. Not appealing.

On tap at Rogue in Portland, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings dry berries with a touch of honey sweetness. Flavour is much sweeter, with notes of honey, dark berries, and some alcohol. A lovely slow sipper, showcasing quote a nectary finish. Really good.

Bottle 750ml.

[ As Rogue Farms Marionberry Braggot ].
Clear medium to dark amber - brown red color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, honey. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long to average duration, artificial, honey, berry ? fruit ? (asume that is the Marionberry ). Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft - flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20150812]

Oh this is weird. Malty. Honey backbone. I’m not liking this. Some kind of strange berry I’m not used to. Im not digging this.

Pour is a deep vibrant purple, dark but with hints of red and orange to it. Barely any carbonation of course, so very little head or bubbles to this. Smell is honey, berries, deep vibrant smoke and sweetness. Very layered, with different berries and flowers at the top. Taste follows: a deep resonating warmth from the berries and honey, a sourness from the berries, almost bitter but not quite, and sweetness. Hard to pin down specifically. Palate is lasting sweetness, a bit more sourness from the berry, and the heavy alcohol setting in....nice....

It's ok but I'm thinking this was an old bottle as the flavor was kinda dulled and mild. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
