3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Market street wine shop uptown. Bomber. Purple small head. Aroma of bitter berries and honey. Taste is heavy alcohol on top of berries and honey. Bitter and nothing I'd want to drink on a regular basis. Thankfully we are in the 21st century.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Rogue Farms/Chatoe Rogue. The beer is a dark ruddy amber color with a thin white head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of berry, malt and a touch of spice. Full-bodied with a sweet marionberry character and notes of malt, spice and earth. The finish is fruity with a berry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pretty red pour, likely fruity and berry notes, some honey flavors but hop notes kind of over power

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a deep, deep crimson, almost shading to brown, with a shallow, fine-grained, cream-colored head that rapidly dissipates. Nose is berries, geranium, lavender, talc, honey, and pears. Drier on the tongue than the nose portends; it has a strong menthol or camphor kick up front, then comes back at you with honey and marionberries. It’s a little boozy; I think the alcohol could have been dialed back a bit. But the finish is lovely, equal parts floral, fruity, and warm honey. If you can handle that initial burst of herbs and ABV, there’s a lot to like here.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL ceramic bottle from Warners at the Bay
Pours a rusty red coloured liquid, hazy, slight ring of foam persists.
Vinous aroma - cranberry juice, vinous red fruits, fragrant honey with hints of vanilla & fresh cut flowers.
Rich body, subtle carbonation, appreciable acidity & tannin - reminiscent of cranberry once again.
Body continues with lovely sweet honey upfront combining with vinous red fruit notes of cherry, plum & cranberry, subtle undertones of vanilla and sherry. Finish bittersweet, acidity lingers, vinous overall impression.
Unlike anything I’ve ever come across - never tried a marionberry; seems to add a red wine-like character to the mead.
