3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
cloudy orange color; piney, citrusy aroma with an underlying malty sweetness; the name pretty well says it: lots of piney, citrusy hops and big IPA character, with a barleywine-like sweet malt background and alcohol notes; perhaps a little bit muddled and confusing

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
(bottle - 750 ml) Copper orange pour with a thick white head. Sour and off aroma. Some hops but a ton of malt. Not balanced. Flavor is identical. Sour and sweet and unpleasant. Leaves a weirdly dry and sugary aftertaste. Swing and a miss.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strong malty note like a barley wine, sort of a citrus hop note as well.
Look is strange. Pours very light in color. Almost a wheat beer color to it. Little head.
Taste is very unique. Has the heavy malty finish of a barley wine but the light hoppy middle of a IPA.
Palate is heavy. Smooth. Finish is a little intense.
Overall a very unique beer. Brings some good notes of an IPA, brings some strong notes of a Barley wine. Doesnít do either exceptionally well but I appreciate the uniqueness.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear mahogany with a thick pale tan head. Aroma has yeasty, hoppy and fruity notes, not as strong as with some other BWs I have sampled but still inviting. Powerful flavor leaps onto the tongue like a tiger, assaulting the palate with hoppy and brandy notes, and an alcohol bite like a barleywine otter have. It leaves an alcohol finish with a hoppy underpinning and a hint of pear/cherry. Thick texture has a dusty hay feel and an alcohol chomp like an angry Rottweiler. Donít be crabby - get crusty!

Taste is sweet malt, booze, honey, candied fruit, floral hop notes, caramel, light toffee and citrus notes. Body is medium-full with a dense, bubbly carbonation and light warmth. Slightly sticky. Ends with more caramel, booze, toffee notes, sweet malt, honey notes, candied fruit and floral notes.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a half finger of head on a cloudy medium straw colored body.
The aroma is musty barn hay...
The taste has an assertive orange and grapefruit flavor, to include the bitterness, at first. There are some very sweet malt notes that snake their way in and out. And the booze is there too.
The texture is thick with low carbonation.
Itís a big beer with big flavors. Interesting for sure.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I liked the beer at first, I thought it was a bit smooth for an IPA, but like the name suggests I couldnít put it into a category. It tasted like an orange peel after awhile. I got tired of it after about 1/2 a glass and it didnít leave my palate with a nice taste. Iím glad I tried it, just really couldnít get into it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark gold into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Sweet caramel aromas. Thick with dark toffee, toasted nuts and bread upfront turning to hot caramel and resin in the lasting finish.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This could be my favorite beer. The name is deceiving though. I was expecting something like a green flash palate wrecker, this is more of a straight DIPA not much barley wine about it. Perfect malt balance with a heavy dose of zesty pine dank hops. Alcohol very well hidden.
